Earlier this month from August 1-4th we celebrated our 5th Rotex International Convention in Brescia, Italy 🇮🇹 ! Eighty Rotex from 19 different countries gathered in Brescia to discuss Rotex best practices, learn from each other and discuss the future of Rotex International. We heard from leaders like Rotary International President-elect Mário César Martins De Camargo, RI Directors Henrique Vasconcelos and Alberto Cecchini, and Alumni Relations Program Officer Rayven Randolph. In workshops, topics ranged from starting and sustaining a Rotex Association, strategic partnerships with Rotary International and local Rotary clubs and improving mental health supports for exchange students. During free time we had the opportunity to explore Italy, connect with each other and enjoy lots of local cuisine and culture! This event would not have been possible without our guest speakers our chair of the convention Alberto Domenighini (previous RXI Head of Networking), Rotary District 2050 and Rotex 2050! Thank you for hosting and organizing the convention! On the last day of the convention, we held our Annual General Meeting where we elected 4 new members to the board. Welcome to Maya Povhe (Canada), Marcus Stephens (USA), Maiko Naito (Japan), Christopher Hood (USA/ Belgium) and continuing board member Gayatri Lodha (India). As we welcome this new board, we would like to thank and recognize the contributions from our previous board members who served from 2022-2024. Kyla Christianson (Canada) who served as RXI president. She spearheaded our series of monthly events, maintained dialogue with Rotary International, and spoke at NAYEN 2024 representing RXI. Albert Hönisch (Germany) who served as the Head of Leadership and Development who continued to enhance our RXI knowledgebase, chaired the Training and Development committee and hosted workshop sessions with topics ranging from Rotex Social Media Tips and How to start a Rotex association. Both Kyla and Albert will remain active as advisors to the current board. More information on the convention and RXI updates can be found in coming weeks on our website rotex.org Thank you again to everyone who joined! We look forward to applying the information and insights gained from the convention and look forward to seeing you all again at our 6th Rotex International Convention in Argentina in 2026! #rotexinternational #rotaryinternational #rotexcon2024 #rotaryyouthexchange

It was an honor to be the chair of the 5th Rotex International Convention Brescia 2024 (https://lnkd.in/dp8xWYRr), that took place in Brescia, Italy from 1-4 August. About 80 Rotex (i.e., former Rotary Youth Exchange students) from 19 different countries from all over the world gathered for the first time after the pandemic to discuss the future of Rotex International, share best practices within the RYE program, make lifelong connections and get to know how to be more active within Rotary, while diving into the Italian culture. With us, keynote speakers such as Rotary International President-elect Mário César Martins De Camargo, RI Directors Henrique Vasconcelos and Alberto Cecchini, and Alumni Relations Program Officer Rayven Randolph. An absolute privilege to have them all with us, listen to their inspiring speeches and discuss together how to effectively integrate Rotex and, more broadly, youth within Rotary. Focus of both the plenary sessions and workshops was on Rotary’s action plan (namely, increase our impact, expand our reach, enhance participant engagement, and increase our ability to adapt) seen under a Rotex perspective. It has been a wonderful journey that also allowed me to discover Brescia more. Indeed, several were our venues (Auditorium of San Barnaba, Conservatoire Luca Marenzio, Broletto, Chamber of Commerce, MO.CA, Hotel Vittoria, Diocesan Museum, and MITA), as well as the social activities that were provided (visit to Vittoriale degli Italiani and Salò on Lake Garda, boat tour of Lake Iseo and hike on Monte Isola, visit and wine tasting at Guido Berlucchi, golf practice in Franciacorta, and guided tours of Brixia and Brescia). Last but definitely not least, both the Italian and local cuisine were a critical aspect of our culture that could not be missed as the final piece of the puzzle that fulfilled this framework. A huge thanks to our sponsors: Comune di Brescia, Provincia di Brescia, Camera di commercio di Brescia, Visit Brescia, Rotary District 2050 and the local Rotary Clubs, Cartapani, and Maniva. In particular, I want to thank District 2050 Governor Massimiliano Pini, Assessore Andrea Poli and his secretary Benedetta, President of Chamber of Commerce Roberto Saccone and his secretary Milva, and CEO of Visit Brescia Graziano Pennacchio and his entire team for their support and enthusiasm since the inception of this event. Special thanks also to Albert, Emma, Hans, Kyla and Maya, and my fellow HOC members Martina, Matteo, Federica, Alice, Elena, Silvia, Elena and Maria Laura for their aid. Finally, grazie to all the participants! I really hope they all enjoyed their time in Brescia as much as I did! Looking forward to seeing what’s next with Rotex International, after the insightful discussion we had in Brescia..and can’t wait to see everyone again in person in Argentina in 2026! 🇦🇷🇦🇹🇧🇪🇨🇦🇨🇿🇩🇰🇫🇮🇫🇷🇩🇪🇯🇵🇷🇸🇸🇰🇸🇮🇪🇸🇨🇭🇹🇼🇺🇸🇧🇷🇮🇹🇪🇺⚙️ #rotexcon2024 #rotexinternational #rotaryinternational
