Rushford is proud to partner with Mindmap, a statewide early detection campaign that launched this past February and that aims to enable rapid treatment of recent onset psychotic disorders in teens and young adults (aged 16-35). Hosted by the Specialized Treatment Early in Psychosis (STEP) Learning Collaborative, with support from the Connecticut State Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) and Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF), Mindmap will guide all eligible individuals into care at the nearest clinic within the collaborative that covers all regions of the state. Rushford is a valued member of the STEP Learning Collaborative, and is ready to care for all eligible emerging adults and their families. This service can be accessed through a single referral line — 203-200-0140. More information is available online at mindmapct.org

Ridge Recovery Center Ridge staff and clients were joined by BHN and Rushford colleagues recently for a picnic to celebrate the first six months of operations since opening in January 2024. All enjoyed a barbecue, specialty cupcakes, and outside games including cornhole and pickleball. Many shared their personal stories of recovery and voiced their appreciation for the opportunity to experience the new facility and work with the staff. Ten special awards modeled after the Hartford HealthCare leadership behaviors were also given out to staff members at a special ceremony. Congratulations to all those who were nominated and selected including colleagues Kassandrah Banks, Megan Geer, and Angaline Palamara. Rushford, Hartford HealthCare’s substance use disorder treatment facility, has been working with the City of Meriden’s health and police departments for a number of years, providing crisis response assistance through a series of programs and initiatives. This year the relationship took another step forward where Rushford clinician Alisa Palmer-Winston, (LPC, CCTP and ART certified) is now embedded with the Meriden Police Department, working side-by-side with officers on calls involving people in crisis. This innovative collaboration allows for a holistic approach to public safety, where social workers can provide specialized support and resources to individuals experiencing mental health crises or other social challenges. This is all part of the Meriden Opioid Referral for Recovery (MORR) project, a partnership between the Hartford HealthCare Behavioral Health Network, Rushford, the City of Meriden and Meriden first responders to help combat the opioid crisis. Rushford offers a full continuum of addiction and mental health treatment for adults and teens throughout central Connecticut at its locations in Avon, Durham, Cheshire, Glastonbury, Meriden, Middletown, and Portland.
