We are deeply grateful to the McGregor Fund for their generous support of the Ruth Ellis Center. This funding will significantly help us continue expanding our facilities, programs, and staffing. It is an honor to be recognized for the work we do to create a community of welcome, joy, and refuge for LGBTQ+ youth in the Detroit area. It is for this reason we came into being. With this support, we can continue to offer essential services such as hot meals, a food pantry, skill-building workshops, job placement, benefits support and so much more. Additionally, we are committed to providing LGBTQ+ affirming, community-based housing and permanent supportive housing through our new Clairmount Center. Thank you, McGregor Fund, for believing in our mission and helping us make a positive impact in the lives of so many. #Gratitude #LGBTQ #HousingIsPublicHealth #CommunityImpact #Nonprofit #ThankYou #PRIDEis247365 #WeAreRuthEllisCenter
The McGregor Fund is delighted to announce $5.1 million in grants awarded to 18 area nonprofit organizations in the first half of 2024. Basic Needs & Housing grants, totaling $2.4 million, for food, shelter, and other necessities essential for day-to-day living, were approved for eight grant partners, including: A grant for $300,000 to the Ruth Ellis Center in support of its general operations and to provide flexibility and needed cash flow as it continues to grow its facilities, programs and staffing while also expanding its work with reimbursement-based funding sources. REC has created a community of welcome, joy and refuge for LGBTQ+ youth in the Detroit area, supporting their social, emotional, medical and behavioral needs; offering hot meals, a food pantry, skill building workshops, job placement and benefits support; and providing LGBTQ+ affirmative, community-based housing and permanent supportive housing through its new Clairmount Center.

We were thrilled to welcome Dr. KimArie Y., Chief Diversity Officer of Rocket's family of companies, back to her childhood neighborhood for an inspiring visit to the Ruth Ellis Claremont Center, and it was our honor to host her and show her the new developments since her departure. Her visit beautifully kicked off our pre-Pride Month celebrations, leaving us energized and more committed than ever to our mission. The insights and stories she shared have not only enriched our understanding but have also deepened our connections within the community. Thank you, Dr. KimArie Y., for such an unforgettable day and for your powerful impact on us all. We look forward to many more collaborations in the future! We can't wait for her to see the Catfight for the Crown pictures; a TIME was had. 🌈 #PrideMonth #DiversityAndInclusion #CommunityEngagement #Homecoming #WeAreRuthEllisCenter #HousingISpublichealth #LGBTQYouth

I was in the neighborhood I grew up in today. And though it looks a bit different than when I was growing up, I had the familiar feeling of home, of resilience, of grit, laughter, of family. It was even more strongly felt when I walked into the Ruth Ellis Center. This visit was a vivid reminder of the importance of collaborative efforts—how coming together for a common cause can make the world a better place where everyone can live peacefully, healthily, and successfully, as intended. It often starts with one person igniting the flame. I’m thrilled to see that the flame sparked long ago is still burning bright and growing stronger over time. Thank you Nazarina Victoria M. and Mark Erwin for the warm welcome, and for keeping the fire burning. The energy was incredible, and the impactful work you're doing is truly inspiring and necessary! And meeting my sorority sister, Wanda Sykes, was an added bonus to my day! It warmed my heart to learn how she came to be a supporter of the center, not only by words, but deeds! #justkeepliving #servicetoallkind

This #Pride2024 is all about gratitude, and we must spotlight our incredible community partner, #BankofAmerica. We are honored to have received grant funding to support Thriving Futures, an employment and career pathway program designed by and for LGBTQ+ young people who participate in Ruth Ellis Center programming. Additionally, their support extends to our Clairmount Advisory Board, a council representing the interests of residents in our housing program and providing life-skills development for all youth engaged in our housing program. The equity-focused lens through which these programs were created empowers the next generations of LGBTQ+ youth in the #Detroit Metropolitan Area, enabling them to build a stable foundation for their visions of success. We thank Bank of America for their partnership and their commitment to creating more opportunities for our young people to thrive. #Pride2024 #MiBofA #housingISpublichealth #BofAGrants #LGBTQYouth
