Relive the magic of SABANY’s 2024 Annual Leadership Gala ✨ A theme of uplifting the South Asian legal community threaded through the night from awards reviewed, individuals honored, and speeches given. In the past year, SABANY has hosted and/or co-sponsored over 40 events including marquee events such as our Public Interest Fellowship Reception and the Private Sector Reception. We hosted new events including a Judicial Reception, reenactments of the landmark Thind and Ozawa cases, a Pitch Academy, and a live podcast with Gurbir Grewal. We awarded 8 Fellowships to students pursuing public interest summer opportunities, the highest number of fellowships awarded to date by SABANY. We advocated for the appointment and confirmation of Judges Sanket Bulsara, Adeel A. Mangi, and Christine Perumal. SABANY partnered with Anise Health to bring awareness to mental health and provide services to our members. SABANY and Asian American Bar Association of New York’s LGBTQ+ Committee collaborated to foster greater inclusivity within the Asian legal community. We partnered with Desi American Woman Network, and South Asian Trailblazers to explore wide issues like colorism, fighting for a seat at the table, and imposter syndrome. Thank you to the entire SABANY community for helping us make the past year possible. We greatly appreciate all the time, donations, and commitment you have given us. We thank to all the incredible organizations we partnered with to help bring forth innovative ideas for different cross sections of the community. Thank you to our membership, we look forward to continuing to uplift our community together through programming and opportunities for connection.

SABANY’s 2024 Annual Leadership Awards Gala: Leadership Under President @Hena Vora’s leadership, SABANY hosted many events including panels, our flagship mentorship program, fireside chats, historic case reenactments, Judicial and Public Interest Fellowship Receptions, and our Annual Gala. None of these events would be possible without our Officers and Directors. They brought President Vora’s vision for a bigger and better SABANY to life. This year would not have been possible without the our Board and our members who have supported our endeavors. Thank you to the support from South Asian Bar Association (SABA) of North America , South Asian Bar Association of New Jersey (SABA-NJ), and SABA Georgia. As we enter our next term, President-Elect Ashish Bhatt and his team will continue to elevate and expand SABANY. We will continue to bring high quality programming and look forward to engaging with our membership and community.
