October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (#NDEAM). A large number of individuals with disabilities who are qualified, willing, and able to work still face significant barriers to employment. In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics, only 36% of the people ages 16 to 64 who have a disability are in the workforce, compared to 75% of Americans in the same age group without a disability.   As a U.S. Department of Labor Cyber and Tech Industry Intermediary and Registered #Apprenticehship program sponsor (https://lnkd.in/ePHp3HX), Safal helps employer partners understand how to create accessible work environments that increase their ability to expand their hiring pool by bringing on people with disabilities. For example, our partner, NPower’s social support managers' connect participants with vital resources, such as GoodTemps and Goodwill Industries International, which provide vocational rehabilitation services and practical supports for individuals with disabilities. We also connect partners to their local #workforce development boards and vocational rehabilitation agencies to access funding, supportive services, and help recruiting individuals with disabilities.   We’re proud to champion our employer partners who are expanding registered apprenticeship opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Safal is proud to announce that we have been awarded a new $8.7M contract from the U.S. Department of Education for the National Technical Assistance Center for Homeless Education (NTACHE). This marks a crucial step in Safal’s strategy to expand our federal contract portfolio and improve the lives of students across the country. The revitalization of NTACHE is of paramount importance considering the unprecedented homelessness crisis facing our nation, with U.S. public schools identifying 1,205,292 students experiencing homelessness in the 2021‑2022 school year (NCHE). Safal and our partners ICF and Pearl Strategies will work with state homeless coordinators and local homeless education liaisons to optimize outcomes for students experiencing homelessness.   "We are honored to have the opportunity to lead this vital effort," said Mukta Pandit, Founder and CEO of Safal Partners. "Our team is eager to serve the U.S. Department of Education and make a meaningful impact for educators and the children and youth they support. We are ready to apply our expertise, foster innovation, and build a robust, data-driven NTACHE that truly addresses the needs of students experiencing homelessness and their families."
