Good news from 2024 Impact Grantee SafeSpot Children's Advocacy Center of Fairfax! SafeSpot's board recently approved the addition of a full-time therapist. CEO Heather O'Malley shares: "The support of Many Hands was a major contributing factor to our Board’s confidence that we can build and sustain capacity in our most impactful program. Growing our therapy program to serve more children is a significant part of my vision for SafeSpot and I truly believe that it would not have happened this soon without Many Hands' support. We will be able to serve an additional 30 children each year with trauma-focused therapy to help them heal and build brighter futures full of hope and promise." The 9th Annual Champions for Children Tournament was an incredible success, helping us raise more than $400,000 that will directly benefit children recovering from the trauma of abuse in our community. With 30 foursomes, 33 sponsors, and more than 200 dinner guests, it was an incredible day and night to remember! Thank you to everyone who made this event a success! #NationalNonprofitDay is the perfect time to learn more about our 2024 grantees! 🌟 Economic Empowerment: Together We Bake provides a comprehensive workforce training and personal development program to help underserved women gain self-confidence, transferable workforce skills, and hands-on experience, which will allow them to find sustainable employment and move toward self-sufficiency. 🌟 Education: Community Bridges - Maryland empowers girls from diverse backgrounds to become exceptional students, positive leaders, and healthy young women by addressing the developmental needs of immigrant and minority girls and their families living at or below the federal poverty level in Montgomery County. 🌟 Health: SafeSpot Children's Advocacy Center of Fairfax provides a safe environment and support services for child abuse victims and their families as they navigate the investigation and aftermath of abuse. By coordinating the Fairfax County response to child abuse, SafeSpot puts the interests of the child first. 🌟 Housing: Healthy Babies Project Inc. empowers DC youth to build healthy, stable lives by providing life skills training to prevent youth pregnancy; evidence-based, one-on-one case management and peer support to homeless and transient pregnant/parenting youth; and job readiness and advocacy training.
