It's time to say farewell to foam! 👋 Plastic foam—commonly used for cups, plates and food containers—is one of the most common plastics found polluting our beaches and coasts. It easily breaks up into small pieces, known as microplastics, making it nearly impossible to clean up. Sea turtles, seabirds, and other ocean wildlife frequently mistake these tiny particles for food, which can lead to serious health issues or even death. Plastics have even been found in our bodies, reinforcing concerns from researchers about their harmful effects on human health. #PlasticFreeJuly is a global movement to bring awareness to the plastic pollution crisis we are facing. Throughout the month, we will feature common questions about #plastics and plastic pollution, as well as possible solutions and ways to get involved. 🥤 An estimated 33 billion pounds of plastic enter the ocean every year — that’s roughly equivalent to dumping two garbage trucks full of plastic into the oceans every minute. 🤷♀️ But where does this plastic come from?
