SRP is pursuing all options to ensure our customers have reliable, affordable, and sustainable power in the coming years. One of the best examples of this strategy at work is the new Eleven Mile Solar Center. This 300-MW project, a partnership with Ørsted, is the largest solar and battery energy storage system project in SRP’s history. The energy and storage capacity at Eleven Mile Solar plays an important role in helping meet SRP’s ambitious decarbonization goals while at the same time, helping us continue to provide affordable and reliable energy to our customers. Suppliers, local officials, and community members joined us in Pinal County near Phoenix, Arizona, last week to celebrate the official commissioning of our Eleven Mile Solar Center. This combined solar farm and battery energy storage system (BESS) represents an approximate USD 1 billion dollar investment by Ørsted in clean energy for Arizona and is set to generate approximately USD 80 million in tax revenue to the local community to support public services – and created more than 1,000 local construction jobs. Watch the video from the celebration, and get a glimpse of the largest co-located solar and BESS project on Salt River Project's power grid. Battery storage systems provide support when energy demand is highest and can power homes for up to four hours. SRP’s balanced approach taps into the most efficient, available and cost-effective mix of energy sources. This helps us maintain the reliability and affordability needed for Arizona’s hot summers while strengthening economic growth in the region.
