The Sarasota-Manatee Manufacturers Association (SAMA) is excited to announce the addition of Allison Evanitz as its new Membership Engagement Manager.🎉🤩 With over two decades of experience in community- and workforce-based organizations, attaining memberships and engaging with members, Allison brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to the role. Originally from Pittsburgh, Allison has a deep appreciation for economic development and the role manufacturing plays in that. “Being from Pittsburgh, I understand the importance manufacturing has in developing the local economy and the benefits it brings to the residents of the region. I wanted to be part of that,” she shares. Her experience includes roles in community engagement and initiatives, most notably serving as Vice President of Community Engagement at the EDC of Sarasota and working with the Pennsylvania One Call System. As a member of the EDC, Allison participated in SAMA events and assisted in connecting manufacturers with the association. “As SAMA desires continued growth, we needed to hire someone to pursue new members and engage with existing members,” says Rob Harris, Executive Director of SAMA. “Allison is the perfect fit. SAMA is a part of economic development, and her experience and likable personality is exactly what we needed!” “SAMA’s recent efforts towards workforce and education, advocacy, and providing resources to manufacturers to improve their business, are the drivers making me want to be a part of the association,” Allison states. “I can’t wait to bring SAMA’s value to more manufacturers in our region. Organizing plant tours of local manufacturers. Business Advising - Delivering free FloridaMakes business evaluations. Providing discounted rates on FloridaMakes third-party services. Creating customized training tools.

🌟 Workforce Development: Addressing the Childcare Crisis 🌟 In our region, the childcare crisis is creating tough choices for many parents, forcing them to stay home rather than re-enter the workforce. With over 50 percent of the U.S. population living in childcare deserts and the high cost of care, many parents find it more financially viable to stay home. In response, North Port employers can take advantage of the new Child Care Tax Credit starting October 1, 2024: - 50 percent credit for startup costs or operating eligible childcare facilities. - 100 percent credit for payments made to childcare facilities on behalf of employees (up to $3,600 per child.) It's time to redefine "work" and ensure all roles are valued. 🗓️ South County Event Alert: The Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota County is hosting an informative session on Florida’s new Childcare Business Tax Credit on Monday, August 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the Venice Area Chamber of Commerce, 597 S Tamiami Trail, Venice, FL 34285.
