We were thrilled to witness student voice in action yesterday with the VoiceBox art activation project at Jefferson High School! The project was a result of Board of Education Trustee Hector Camacho, Jr. receiving The James Irvine Foundation's Leadership Award earlier this year. Over two days, dozens of students, educators, and community members stepped into the box and shared stories about the teaching profession and what it would be like if they were a teacher. Thank you to Tre Borden /Co for your inspiration, creativity, and thought leadership for using art to engage and communicate with our school communities, and thank you to Jefferson Union High School District for hosting!

After a year-long planning effort with members of the Child Care Partnership Council, we are proud to share this planning report on how to bring Universal Prekindergarten (UPK) to San Mateo County! The report includes, data, best practices, and recommendations on how to ensure all four-year-olds and a greater number of three-year-olds have access to full-day, high-quality early education and care programs before kindergarten. “Once again, our county has come together to focus on how we can better serve our youngest residents. This plan helps us create high-quality learning opportunities for three- and four-year-olds to meet local needs,” shared San Mateo County Superintendent of Schools Nancy Magee.
