📣 Switzerland Imposes New Sanctions Against Belarus Amid Ongoing Conflict with Ukraine On October 30, 2024, the Swiss Federal Council implemented new sanctions against Belarus, aligning with the European Union's measures established on June 29, 2024. 📝 This decision was made in response to Belarus's continued support for Russia's military aggression in Ukraine. 📣 Treasury / OFAC Sanctions Leaders of La Linea for Trafficking Fentanyl into the U.S. On October 31, 2024, the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctioned five Mexican nationals and two entities linked to La Linea, a Mexican drug trafficking group responsible for smuggling fentanyl and other drugs into the U.S. ✅  This action, in coordination with the DEA and Mexican authorities, targets La Linea’s senior figures involved in narcotics, human trafficking, and arms smuggling. 🧊 OFAC’s move freezes assets and blocks U.S. transactions with these individuals and companies, disrupting La Linea's leadership structure and financial networks in alignment with Executive Order 14059 and the Kingpin Act. 📣 EU Tightens Sanctions on ISIL and Al-Qaeda Supporters, Adds Gender-Based Violence Criteria On October 29, 2024, the Council of the European Union amended its restrictive measures under Decision (CFSP) 2016/1693 against ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaeda, aligning with UNSC Resolution 2734 to further restrict activities supporting these groups. 📝 The amended criteria now cover acts of sexual and gender-based violence when used by these groups as tactics of terrorism. License 8K for energy-related transactions 2. License 25G for telecommunications and internet-based communications 3. License 110 for winding down transactions with specific entities blocked on this date 4. License 111 for transactions related to debt, equity, or derivative contracts with certain blocked entities 5. License 112 for civil aviation safety and wind-down transactions involving Shaurya Aeronautics Private Limited. ✅ These licenses permit specified transactions otherwise restricted under sanctions on Russia.
