  • At their regular October meeting, the Sand Springs Board of Education recognized a Sandite teacher, student, and community partner KKT Architects, Inc. for their outstanding achievements. Gina Myers - Clyde Boyd Middle School Clyde Boyd Middle School teacher Gina Myers received the Sandite Pacesetter Award. She was nominated by CBMS Principal Angelia Noel for her work creating and coaching the CBMS Archery Team. “She is an innovator, trailblazer, and relentless advocate for students,” said Noel in her nomination letter. “Her unwavering commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all students inspires me and others daily.” Landon Dorsey - Clyde Boyd Middle School Eighth grader Landon Dorsey received the Sandite Spirit Award for his dedication to academics, extracurricular activities, and volunteer work. “One of my favorite things as a teacher is to witness kids FAR exceeding your expectations,” said Dorsey’s teacher Gina Myers. “Time and again, it has been proven to me when a student/athlete feels supported and encouraged, the sky is the limit!” For his National Junior Honor Society community service hours, Dorsey made quivers for the CBMS archery program. The team started the year using five gallon buckets, but thanks to Dorsey, they now have quivers to store their arrows. “He made a major upgrade,” said Myers. “He spent 16 hours making 12 [quivers], and I just LOVE them!” KKT Architects KKT Architects received the Sandite Spirit Award in recognition of their outstanding work for the district. The architectural firm recently won the 2024 Architectural Exhibition People's Choice Award at the OSSBA Education Leadership Conference for their design of the Charles Page Freshman Academy and STEM Center. KKT Architects continue to partner with the district in bringing to life multiple projects for the Future-Ready Sandites bond passed earlier this year. Those projects include a new building for seventh and eighth graders, an ADA entrance for Central Administrative Services, and a new press box for Memorial Stadium. Learn more about those projects.. Congratulations to these outstanding Sandites! Thank you for exemplifying the Sandite spirit of excellence.

Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Project Lead The Way

I had the pleasure of attending a second recycling classroom activity, this time with Sand Springs Public Schools, OK Project Lead The Way teacher Jessica Sprague and Ardagh Group ambassador Katie Brown. Students were tasked with selecting snack items to be offered at their school, then re-selecting based on what they learned about recycling and eliminating waste.   Thank you to Ardagh Group and Katie Brown for talking to the students about their company’s work, the importance of recycling, and also for bringing snacks and swag. We appreciate your partnership and employee engagement in your communities. Thanks again to Jessica Sprague for also inviting me to attend your other #PLTW class and seeing your IED student’s catapult projects. #STEMeducation #collaboration #employeeengagement

  • Sandite Summer Celebrity Sighting! Our summer programs are in full swing, and they're knocking it out of the park. Last week at Project Summer Spirit, Sandites were surprised by Tulsa Drillers Baseball's own Hornsby. Hornsby served a very special role during his visit: lighting the flame for the camp's "Minuteman Olympics." Thank you to Hornsby and the Drillers for helping campers get in the #ProjectSummerSpirit!

  • Sand Springs Public Schools is proud to announce newly named administrators for the 2024-25 school year. As current Charles Page High School Principal Stan Trout retires at the end of this school year, Ryan Bivin will take the reins as the new principal. Mr. Bivin currently serves as assistant principal at CPHS, and he has proven himself an outstanding leader. After serving as a teacher and coach at CPHS, Matt Brown has accepted the role of assistant principal. Joining him as assistant principal will be Kristen Simpson, who comes to CPHS from Union Public Schools. At the district level, some familiar faces are taking on new roles. Carrie Schlehuber currently serves as the director of special education and enrollment. She will continue to oversee those departments in her new role as assistant superintendent. Cassidy Wion, who has been working in SSPS financial services, will now serve as the district’s chief financial officer/treasurer. Join us in welcoming and congratulating this great group of leaders!
