Through a unique blend of mentorship, education, and life skills training, MAAFA equips its participants with the tools to thrive—emotionally, socially, and economically. At the center of this mission is The MAAFA Center for Arts and Activism (affectionately known as “The MAC”). The MAC is more than just a building—it’s a dynamic space where the artistic talents and voices of West Garfield Park residents are nurtured and celebrated. What The MAC offers: 🎨 A space to organize, curate, educate, and liberate. 🎭 A flexible artistic venue for exhibitions, workshops, and community engagement. This gap is the result of systemic barriers like poverty, lack of access to quality healthcare, economic opportunity, healthy food, and the impact of multi-generational trauma and disinvestment. Founded in 2019 and formally organized in 2021, GPRWC has rapidly grown, expanding its team and achieving significant milestones in just a few short years.
