This is the South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH), the former health component of DHEC. Our name may change, but our commitment to protecting, promoting and improving the health and well-being of everyone in South Carolina is stronger than ever. DPH will build on DHEC’s legacy, continuously innovating to achieve best practices that help improve our state’s overall health with the goal of becoming the healthiest state in our nation. Our goal for this new agency is to instill a people-first approach to all that we do. This includes working with our partners, communities, and others to help every South Carolinian have the access, resources, and information they need to make decisions that enhance their health and have access to the highest quality, safe health care. To highlight those who go above and beyond to embody this commitment, HQ recognizes a Star Performer each month. They are chosen at random after being nominated by a peer or supervisor. Meet our most recent HQ Star Performers from July, August, September and October: —Terika Curney, Program Manager I for the Bureau of Nursing Homes & Medical Services, was nominated twice in July for her can-do spirit and willingness to go the extra mile. “She always has a smile and is an excellent, patient trainer. She walks you step by step through the process and is never in a hurry to complete a task. Her willingness to allow you the time to learn. Her ability to make learning interesting and fun,” said one of her nominators. —JoMonica Taylor, Director of Community Services Section for the Bureau of Hospitals, Community Services & Emergency Management, was nominated in August for being an excellent team player in encouraging facilities to complete their 2023 Joint Annual Reports, leading to a 91% completion rate. —Natasha Sharpe, MHA, Program Manager I for the Bureau of Nursing Homes & Medical Services, was nominated in September for her ability to spot problems and solve them quickly and gracefully. “We continue to uncover areas that need attention but your 'get-it-done' behavior and 'we-can-do-it' attitude is greatly appreciated," said her nominator. —Dustin Ransdell, Investigator IV, Community Services Section, was October's Star Performer. He was recognized for his remarkable thoroughness, attention to detail, and passion for his work. “Dustin ensured that all our questions were answered comprehensively, providing clarity and insight at every turn.
