This role plays a vital part in promoting breastfeeding within the community, workplace, and healthcare system while providing essential support to new and expecting mothers.    The Breastfeeding Peer Counselor will provide direct support to breastfeeding moms through phone calls, home visits, and outreach at hospitals and clinics. Responsibilities include offering guidance during pregnancy and postpartum, referring mothers with complex breastfeeding situations to designated experts, and encouraging participation in breastfeeding classes and support groups. DPH's Healthcare Quality staff recently gathered for a Town Hall focused on key policies, professional development, and team connection. As the team tasked with ensuring quality, compliance, and patient safety in healthcare services, HQ plays a vital role in protecting public health.     "The Town Hall's goal was to prioritize professional development for Healthcare Quality staff," said Dr. Trenessa Jones, Director of the Bureau of Operations Support. "The event served as an opportunity for staff to have a professional day outside of the office focused on gaining new knowledge and engaging with colleagues they might not interact with regularly."     With DPH's core values of Pursuing Excellence and Promoting Teamwork in mind, facilitators created an engaging space to discuss complex topics. The individual in this role is responsible for conducting inspections, surveys, and investigations to ensure healthcare facilities comply with licensing and certification standards.
