As an application developer or data architect, how do you manage distributed transactions in distributed systems? Is it Saga, 2PC, or TCC? Recently, at the KubeDay Japan conference, our CTO, Hiroyuki Yamada and architect, Toshihiro Suzuki discussed the pros and cons of these various protocols in distributed systems. We'll post the video soon, but here is his KubeDay deck. Let us know what you think! Here's Hiroyuki Yamada and Toshihiro Suzuki slide deck! Enjoy! https://lnkd.in/egrtvwWY #database #japan #technology #innovation #scalarlabs #cloud #microservices

What does the number "1950" mean? It could be the year, or a reference code. Or perhaps it's missing a decimal and, as "19.50" or "19.5," could be temperature. (Fahrenheit or Celsius?) Depending on context and who’s looking at the data, 1950 can have a completely different meaning. Across a global enterprise, one minor inconsistency or misinterpretation in a data set can have a reverberating effect, costing millions. That's why we need the concept of "your data now, everywhere." Treat all underlying databases as a single entity, providing data consistency and reliability across all platforms, whether AI, apps or data lakes. Forbes has published our long-awaited article on de-risking data and cloud migrations! 🔥 Congrats to our CEO, Joe McCunney, who writes: "Each enterprise company may utilize various databases across a network of hundreds of databases. Choosing or migrating to the most suitable database or cloud vendor becomes highly complex. The challenges extend beyond cost; they include security, compliance, performance, interoperability and technical gaps. "What’s needed is the concept of 'your data now, everywhere.' Treat all underlying databases as a single entity, providing data consistency and reliability across all platforms, whether AI, apps or data lakes." From GDPR (Europe) to JIS (Japan) to ISO (worldwide), the number of infosec standards and laws that companies must follow are truly dizzying. Databases, where much of this info is stored and managed, need to evolve to meet changing standards. Check out this paper to learn how ScalarDL plus Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres (FEP) provide robust security, reliability, and high-availability from your database systems. 📚 To learn more: Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres - https://lnkd.in/gjaA7Dpv ScalarDL - https://lnkd.in/guPwpV8Q #databasemanagement #IT #infosec #enterprise

It's a wrap! Huge thanks to everyone who joined (in-person and virtually) our meetup with PingCAP. Lots of great questions, conversations, and potential collaborations were shared over pizza, sandwiches, spring rolls, and bevvies. We're psyched to grow our developer community. Big appreciation to our speakers – Scalar CEO Joe McCunney, PingCAP/TiDB's Matthew Penaroza, and Google's John Basmadjian – plus emcee and evangelist extraordinaire Aaron Alvarez. Lots more to come. Thank you! 🎉 cc Scalar, Inc.
