Mental health is important in all aspects of our lives, including in professional settings. That's why we're putting it first this #MentalIllnessAwarenessWeek and especially today on #WorldMentalHealthDay! How do you prioritize Mental Health at Work?
-
Thank you to NAMI for completing and sharing the results of your Workplace Mental Health Survey. The following are some findings that we wanted to share this #MentalIllnessAwarenessWeek. - 74% of full-time employees in the U.S. say it is appropriate to discuss mental health concerns at work, but only 58% say they feel comfortable doing so. - 1 in 3 (36%) say their mental health has suffered because of work in the past year. - Burnout is a problem, especially among women, young workers, and mid-level employees. A higher share of female employees and employees under age 50 report feelings of burnout. - Employees who are less comfortable talking about their mental health at work are more likely to report feeling burnout and their mental health declining because of work. Starting today we must work to create a culture of honesty and compassion in the workplace. It’s time to combat the stigma against mental illness. Learn more about the survey and findings at https://lnkd.in/gBjTmms9
-
No matter what you’re going through, #MentalIllnessAwarenessWeek is a great reminder that you are not alone and there are resources available to support you on your journey. Please take a minute today and share 988 with a co-worker, employee, family member or friend!
-
All week long we will be sharing data points, resources, and action steps you can take during NAMI's #MentalIllnessAwarenessWeek and the upcoming #WorldMentalHealthDay on Thursday. This year's theme is “My Mental Health at Work.” Learn more by visiting https://lnkd.in/gj6m2usE

The final video in our Overdose Prevention and Community Healing Fund series features 2023 and 2024 North Philadelphia Program grantee Mercy Neighborhood Ministries of Philadelphia, Inc.! Mercy’s 2023 Prevention Fund grant supported A Path to Prosperity (P2P), a paid job readiness program designed to provide employment to individuals in an attempt to combat the gun violence and opioid epidemics in Philadelphia with economic opportunity. Path to Prosperity Program Director Nicole Cobb spoke with us about the importance of fostering close relationships with participants to help support prevention: "These are all my little cousins or if they're older they're my aunties. They're the people that I engage with and because it's my community, I do whatever I can to make sure they reach their goals." Watch this video to hear from Nicole and several P2P graduates about how the Path to Prosperity program is furthering prevention and healing in North Philadelphia. Today’s Overdose Prevention and Community Healing Fund video features 2023 and 2024 Grantee, AIM Angels In Motion (Kensington Capacity Building Grantee) AIM used its 2023 grant to support peer recovery specialists working to place individuals who use opioids into treatment. Funds also went toward CPR, First Aid, and wound care training for outreach volunteers. Jesse, a member of Angels in Motion who was once a recipient of its services said of AIM: “These were the first group of people that were, like, meeting me where I was. They understood that I was going to be on the street, that I was going to be doing those things and didn't care about any of that– pushed those things to the side and just saw me as a human. Jesse’s experience with AIM inspired him to help others living with addiction, and he now runs a recovery house. Watch the video to learn more about Angels in Motion, and how showing up and meeting people where they are with an array of resources is having an impact in Philadelphia. veronica kaiser AIM Angels In Motion Joe Pyle Alyson Ferguson, MPH Ashley Feuer-Edwards City of Philadelphia Claire McKeown Embassy: Interactive, LLC Daniel Jackson Sharon Gallagher

The next video in our Overdose Prevention and Community Healing Fund series features 2023 Grantee, Danny's House (Citywide Program Grantee) Danny’s House used its 2023 Prevention Fund grant to support a program that provides safe, subsidized recovery housing for one year to formerly unhoused women in recovery as well as wraparound trauma-informed recovery coaching; holistic case management; and recovery and educational programs. When we filmed this video, Rachel Dougherty, a Co-Director at Danny’s House shared how subsidized, wraparound care allows women to fully dedicate themselves to their recovery: “You don't have to be a mom today, you don't have to do for everyone. This is a shot right now to just do for yourself and then you can put those titles back but by keeping yourself first.” Watch the video below to learn more about Danny’s House, and the impact that offering holistic support with dignity has for women in recovery. We’re thrilled to begin sharing a series of videos highlighting the work of the Overdose Prevention and Community Healing Fund, a partnership between the City of Philadelphia and Scattergood Foundation. The Prevention Fund uses national opioid settlement dollars to repair the harms inflicted on communities across Philadelphia as a result of the opioid epidemic and overdose crisis. Because the Fund sees lived experience and community participation as essential to ensuring just and equitable repair, community members direct resources to organizations doing work in the following three areas: overdose prevention, community and family healing, and/or substance use prevention. “It's different in a good way because it gives power to those that lived through or have worked with or have seen firsthand how the opioid epidemic has affected residents and those who are using.” —Jennifer Somerville, Community Granting Group Member, on the Prevention Fund’s participatory grantmaking model. Watch our Intro Video –filmed and edited by Daniel Jackson at Embassy: Interactive, LLC– for more about the Prevention Fund’s mission and how its participatory process amplifies community voice and power.
