Join us for our next webinar: "Basic OSHA Requirements for a Control Reliable Safety Circuit". Unlock the secrets of #safety control circuits with our expert guide to wiring designs that ensure compliance with OSHA standards and meet essential Performance Levels (PL) and Safety Integrity Levels (SIL). Control reliability is a benchmark for the design of #SafetyControl circuits. Properly designed control circuits ensure the safety of the system overall. There are several Categories of circuits for safety systems. OSHA refers to control reliable circuits for #SafetyFunctions, while current ANSI and ISO standards refer to these safety #circuit classifications as Performance Levels (PL) and Safety Integrity Levels (SIL). Join us October 30th at 2:00PM EDT, as we discuss the basic wiring designs of a #SafetyCircuits, to help you fulfill #OSHA requirements and meet the conditions of a specific PL or SIL rating. Last month, our colleagues in Brazil hosted a special event to raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention. They discussed the vital role of CVV (Centro de Valorização da Vida - Life Appreciation Center), which provides free and confidential support 24/7, and emphasized the importance of emotional well-being in our lives. Inspired by the yellow ribbon, a symbol of hope, we are committed to breaking the silence around #MentalHealth. Mental health affects us all – remember, open conversations are key to fostering well-being. 💛 Schmersal Brasil

Question: How can safety outputs fail within a #SafetyController? Answer, from Devin Murray, BSEE, MBA, FS Eng (TÜV Rheinland): 🔽 Safety outputs of a controller can be susceptible to damage when directly switching inductive loads such as a coil from a motor or relay. In short, as an inductive load is switched off it will attempt to maintain its magnetic flux thus creating a #voltage spike. This elevated voltage surge can cause damage as it flows through a sourcing PNP output or as an electric arc flows across a relay contact. Over time and/or with enough voltage these outputs would fail-to-a-safe state. Protection circuits such as utilizing a fly back diode is commonly used to prevent such damage
