🌍 As awareness of the health threats posed by the climate crisis grows, organizations like ScholarRx are stepping up to provide educational resources and curriculum on climate change and planetary health. Earlier this year, we were proud to join the National Academy of Medicine's Climate Collaborative as part of their National Climate and Health Movement initiative. We are one of over 300 organizations—including 46 health systems representing 778 hospitals—committed to accelerating efforts in this critical area. Yesterday, NAM released the Climate Action Showcase, highlighting concrete examples of how health-focused organizations are advancing climate action across the nation and globally. We’re honored to have our Planetary Health Brick collection, developed in collaboration with the Medical Student Alliance for Medical Education, featured as a curricular resource designed to raise awareness and provide education regarding climate change and health. 📢 Looking for funding to support innovative research in medical education? The 2025 ScholarRx Call for Innovation Grant Applications is now open! ScholarRx is calling for grant applications as part of the Medical Education Research and Innovation Challenge (MERIC), a novel program designed to promote global educational scholarship and innovation. MERIC aims to promote US and international educational scholarship and innovation through the ScholarRx/USMLE-Rx platform, which annually serves more than 100,000 student and physician learners. The MERIC small grants program will support health sciences education investigators seeking to collaborate with ScholarRx to test educational innovations and address questions ranging from educational methods and pedagogy to curricular development and student assessment. ScholarRx is pleased to announce that in August 2024, a record number of new Rx Bricks were created and published by educators and users worldwide through the Rx Brick Exchange. This highlights the growing community of educators using the Rx Bricks Create authoring platform to build, adapt, and share high-quality educational resources. Record-Breaking Brick Building - 111 new Bricks were built and published from scratch, setting a high water mark and showcasing the innovation and creativity of faculty using the platform. - 219 Bricks were cloned and published, demonstrating the versatility of the Rx Bricks platform and the value of shared, open educational resources that can be easily adapted. This surge is a testament to the community of practice that has emerged around the Rx Bricks platform. In fact, since launching the Rx Bricks Create authoring tool, over 3,000 bricks have now been published by users. The Rx Bricks Create platform empowers educators by giving them the tools they need to design, publish, and share interactive, multimedia-rich learning experiences. These Bricks can be customized to fit diverse curricula and learning needs, allowing educators to create personalized learning experiences for their students. By enabling faculty to clone, adapt, and repurpose content, Rx Bricks facilitates collaboration on a global scale. This growing community of educators is sharing content and enhancing it, creating a virtuous cycle of improvement that benefits learners everywhere through a shared global curricular ecosystem. This also highlights the Rx Brick Exchange as a platform that can help address educational inequities. By allowing educators to share high-quality resources more easily, the platform ensures that even in underserved regions, learners can access high-quality, evidence-based educational content.
