Providing first-year medical students with meaningful opportunities to develop clinical reasoning skills may seem like a challenge-- but not for The University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. By leveraging DDx, faculty at UPR-SOM successfully facilitated a structured and engaging small-group learning experience were students were able to practice differential diagnosis as a part of their Introduction to Clinical Reasoning workshop. How do you equip future physicians with the confidence to tackle the complexities of real-world clinical practice? The Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo explored this challenge by piloting DDx with 206 third-year medical students. The pilot demonstrated the significant positive impact of DDx with 94% of students reporting increased confidence in their history-taking skills. One student noted, "This is fantastic-- The real-time incentive, feedback, and guidance are so valuable." Read more about the pilot and its impact below.
