Sciens Water’s First Exit: A Strategic Move in Water Infrastructure💧 Sciens Water has successfully completed the first exit from its water portfolio, selling CROM, a leading water tank construction and maintenance company, to Frontenac, a Chicago-based private equity firm. Under Sciens’ ownership, CROM underwent a strategic transformation, expanding its services business, diversifying its product offerings, and strengthening its position as a water infrastructure solutions provider rather than just a specialty construction company. This shift tripled the size of CROM’s services division, making up at least a third of its revenue and EBITDA—enhancing its attractiveness to potential buyers. Key highlights from the sale: ✅ Strengthened recurring revenue through expanded services ✅ Diversified beyond cylindrical water tanks with CROM², a modular tank solution ✅ Positioned for future growth in water asset maintenance and wastewater treatment Sciens Water’s portfolio continues to focus on key water infrastructure assets, including Central States Water Resources and Integrated Water Services, as it advances its long-term investment strategy in the water sector. The EPA's new PFAS regulations will require billions in investment to bring water systems into compliance—yet many small and underfunded utilities lack the resources to meet these standards.   As Arick Wierson, Storyteller highlights in his article, the financial and regulatory burden is growing, and private sector investment will be critical to ensuring clean, safe water for communities nationwide.   Alexander Loucopoulos, Partner at Sciens Water, shares insights on the scale of the issue and the urgent need for funding solutions.
