Here are some behind the scenes clips from Scope & Sequence 's first trip to the Newport Beach Film Festival for the showing of Untouchable, a documentary on which we worked. It was a whirlwind of travel. Hopefully there will be many more festivals to come as we double down on impact documentaries. Check out https://lnkd.in/gHXb3EEY

How much do you know about the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act? The TCJA contained significant tax cuts for individuals and businesses (yay!), but it was also a masterclass in instability, because many of those cuts are set to expire. Scope & Sequence made this video with the Tax Foundation to explain why the principle of "Stability" is so important to good tax policy. #explainervideo #animatedexplainervideo #nfpmarketing

What myths do you have to bust to accomplish your nonprofit's mission? Many nonprofits are up against some sort of myth, misconception, or misunderstanding that they have to overcome in their mission. Maybe there are false beliefs imbedded in culture that people have about the problem you’re trying to solve. Or there could be a counter-narrative that's untrue, that's being used to discredit your mission or solution. Creating an animated explainer video can be one of the most effective ways to bust these myths at scale. There’s two main approaches, depending on how widespread and widely believed the myth is. If most people know the myth and believe it, then it’s typically best to call it out, head on, and explain how and why it is flawed or untrue. This video I made for Exodus Cry at a previous agency does a great job of addressing a myth about choice in the commercial sex industry head on - https://lnkd.in/gbVfpKf8 If the myths or misconceptions are less pervasive, it's better to NOT call them out explicitly so that you don't draw attention to them, and instead focus on making sure people know and understand what's actually true. That way if they do encounter the myth, they already know the facts. Scope & Sequence employed this strategy with the Beacon Center of Tennessee, to address myths about charter schools - https://lnkd.in/gAnEZDNV So, animated explainer videos are an engaging and effective way to reach a large group of people, and replace with myths with facts. If the myth is popular, tackle it head on. Otherwise, make sure your audience knows the facts, and don't give the myths the time of day.
