Together, we’re launching UNBOUND Learning, an innovative project designed to shape a connected learning ecosystem in Northwest Arkansas, where education and community grow together. This bold initiative reimagines the future of learning by offering new opportunities for students, educators, and caregivers to explore fresh, forward-thinking educational experiences. A standout example is this interactive prototype, developed by Daniel Guyton from the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) during a professional exchange at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. The exhibit explores the fascinating science of polarization—how light waves bend, block, and reflect. Visitors use polarized filters on an LCD screen, with its polarizing layer removed, to uncover hidden digital images. The interactive setup mimics an air hockey table, encouraging guests to move the filters across the screen, revealing vibrant images and creating an engaging, playful discovery of how LCD technology works. What makes this experience unique is its high-energy introduction that draws people in with familiar mechanics, leading to focused exploration as guests uncover the hidden images. After each Unfield Trip, we love receiving postcards like these from students who visit the Amazeum. This time, Holt Middle School's 5th-grade students shared their thoughts after exploring our exhibits and Tinkering Workshop. Their reflections show the spark of curiosity that our spaces ignite in young learners. We’re always excited to see what questions and ideas these trips inspire, and this week, the students are returning for even more hands-on fun in our Hershey's Lab! 🍫 Seeing how these field trips inspire creative thinking and a passion for STEAM makes us proud of the impact we're making.
