Meet our incredible physical therapist, Carissa!🙌 Carissa's engineering and athletic background set her up for a smooth transition to physical therapy and has always dreamed of working at Scottish Rite. "I love that I get to see patients and families at all stages in their care journey, from before surgery, immediately after surgery, during rehab and at follow-up appointments. I really enjoy seeing how far the children progress through every phase of their journey," said Carissa. Get to know more about here here: https://bit.ly/41eChlC

Caring for children brings us joy daily. When we can share what we know from our clinical practice and research at a national meeting, we know we can make a difference in the lives of children across the world. Members of our sports medicine team traveled to Columbus, Ohio to participate in the 12th annual meeting of the Pediatric Research in Sports Medicine (PRiSM) Society. This multi-disciplinary organization brings together experts who care for young athletes in many different ways. ✔️Pediatric Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Surgeons ✔️Sports Medicine Physicians ✔️Pediatric Radiologists ✔️Physical Therapists ✔️Athletic Trainers ✔️Biomechanists ✔️Research Coordinators ✔️Epidemiologists ✔️Psychologists Learn more about how we contributed to the meeting this year. https://bit.ly/4jDUbVY

🏀 Thank you, Scottish Rite for Children, for empowering young athletes! Your generous support of the Dallas YMCA’s basketball program ensures that every child has the opportunity to participate, grow, and thrive—both on and off the court. According to the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition Science Board, 73% of parents believe sports positively benefit their child’s mental health. Research backs this up, showing that sports participation is linked to lower rates of anxiety, depression, and stress while boosting self-esteem and cognitive performance. At the Dallas YMCA, our youth sports programs don’t just teach skills—they foster healthy communities by encouraging family involvement, teamwork, and healthy competition. These shared experiences cultivate mutual respect and camaraderie among participants, building a foundation for lifelong success. Thank you, Scottish Rite, for helping make this vision a reality. Together, we’re shaping a stronger, healthier future for our kids and our community. 💪 #YouthSports #CommunityHealth #srchildrencommunity #srchildrensportsmed Kathryn Allen Thuy (Twee) Le Brian Haines Melis Jones Tabei

In 1926, Carter G. Woodson, pictured here, established what is now known as National Black History Month to recognize the contributions of Black people to our country's history and culture. Woodson was a prominent historian and the son of former slaves. He originally chose a recognition week in February to coincide with the birthdays of President Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass - both men who are recognized as symbols of freedom. In 1976, President Gerald Ford extended the observation to an entire month. To learn more about Black History Month, visit: https://lnkd.in/gzQ6fBUY
