We help families pursue digital health so kids can grow up captivated by life, not screens.

About us

When Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone 12 years ago, he promised it would change the world, and it really has. In many ways, our lives are greatly improved and enriched by today’s technologies. However, we are also learning that in our rush to have the latest tech products, we are accidentally experiencing some harmful side effects, including rising rates of anxiety, depression and even suicide for our nation’s kids. Digitally, our kids are more connected than ever — yet more disconnected from real relationships. And families are on the frontlines of this epidemic; surveys show that the #1 battleground families struggle with is technology. We are the first generation of parents to face these concerns. It’s like we are in a new frontier, and there is no roadmap. There is no handbook for parents telling us how to navigate this new territory. Parents are asking: how exactly DO we raise kids to maximize the benefits of tech, and minimize its harmful side effects? That’s why we founded Screen Sanity (formerly called START). Our parent-education program help parents consider the role technology plays in their lives, create a family media plan that honors their core values, and connect with their kids in meaningful ways — both offline and online. However, this program is just the start. In order to optimize its impact, we also work with community stakeholders to explore ways they can support and reinforce healthy tech use in their spheres of influence. We believe that we are on the precipice of the greatest legacy we could leave the next generation: a world where kids are captivated by life, not screens, and communities come together to pursue lives well lived.

We are so honored to have been mentioned in the credits of short film, Treasure Imagination, alongside our mission statement, "to create a world where kids are more captivated by life than screens." Directed by Scott Rice and produced by Stray Vista Studios, this film shares the story of a city-boy who is distraught when his beloved tablet is taken away from him by his mom. But when he finds a mysterious fedora left on a park bench, his temptation to place it on his head leads to adventure. Whether it starts with a fedora, a blanket fort or a cardboard box, invite imagination into your child’s life today. Watch the film below and check out more on our blog: https://lnkd.in/gJHY5Bsc

We are honored to announce our partnership with The Archewell Foundation Parents’ Network. The Parents' Network is a no-cost, private community for parents and caregivers bound by shared experiences of social media harm, centered on collective healing. The Parents’ Network is fighting for change until the social media companies make their platforms safer by design. One child lost, is already one too many. In addition to advocating for safer social media, The Archewell Foundation Parents’ Network seeks to connect ALL parents and caregivers with resources to promote digital health.    By partnering with Screen Sanity, the foundation is able to make our training and tools available to even more communities and families across the world. Stay tuned for more details!    One of The Archewell Foundation’s core beliefs is that mental health and our collective wellbeing are paramount, a belief that aligns perfectly with Screen Sanity’s goal of helping families pursue digital health to reduce loneliness, depression, anxiety and suicide in a socially isolated society.     Visit our website to learn more about this partnership: https://lnkd.in/gfYZnT9C #nochildlosttosocialmedia

Last week we celebrated the ONE YEAR anniversary of our Screen Sanity Parent Night Kit! This kit takes Screen Sanity's curriculum and packages it in a way that anyone anywhere can bring caregivers together for a digital health training. The best birthday gift that the Parent Night Kit has received so far = the feedback from attendees. When asked what they'd tell someone considering a Parent Night, attendees said: 🎁  "You won't believe how relevant this topic is. Really eye opening for our own screen habits." 🎁  "This may be one of the most important things you do as a parent to help your child navigate our technology-centered world."  🎁 "I enjoyed being able to hear more ideas of small steps that I can take that can make a big impact for my child."  🎁 "Anyone with children should make time to attend a Screen Sanity parent night to help protect you and your family."  🎁 "It is helpful without making you feel guilty!" HBD Parent Night Kit. Here's to another trip around the sun and helping more and more families! Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gvg8kCNj
