GitHub is hosting its annual user conference, GitHub Universe, today and tomorrow, and has announced a number of new AI capabilities that will enable developers to build applications more quickly, securely, and efficiently. Some highlights: ✨ GitHub Copilot has new model options: Anthropic’s Claude 3.5 Sonnet, Google’s Gemini 1.5 Pro, and OpenAI’s GPT-4o, o1-preview, and o1-mini. 💻 Copilot Workspace added a build and repair agent, brainstorming mode, integrations with VS Code, and iterative feedback loops. 👬 GitHub Models now offers side-by-side model comparison, support for multi-modal models, the ability to save and share prompts and parameters, and additional cookbooks and SDK support in GitHub Codespaces. 🌟 A technical preview of GitHub Sparks, which allows the creation of fully functional micro apps using text prompts. https://lnkd.in/e4F7hErQ

As organizations adopt domain-driven design principles, they face new hurdles, particularly in data governance, stewardship, and contractual frameworks. Building practical data domains is a complex undertaking and comes with some challenges, but the rewards in terms of data consistency, usability, and business value are significant. To overcome these challenges and implement domain-driven design successfully, organizations should start by considering these five steps. https://lnkd.in/e7wfGqZE

There is now an official definition for what constitutes "Open Source AI". The definition, created by Open Source Initiative (OSI), covers code, model, and data information. Coming up with a definition has been a multi-year process, and has required a lot of refining, particularly around the data information piece, which has caused a lot of debate in the industry, with some believing the training data set must be completely open and other acknowledging that that's not realistic. The OSI's solution to this problem is to require data information, not the data in a data set. https://lnkd.in/ehTUFj-8

AI is creating huge demands on our power grids, and as Jason Carolan, chief innovation officer at Flexential, said in a recent episode of ITOps Times podcast: "We’re at this point, whether it’s AI or whether it’s just electrification in general, that we’re really running out of capacity." To solve this problem, Microsoft, Google, and Amazon are turning to nuclear power to meet growing demands. Microsoft recently signed a deal to restart Three Mile Island, and Google and Amazon are investing in small modular reactors (SMR), which generate less power but are smaller, have more safety features, and aren't as costly to build. https://lnkd.in/evC3x9Eb
