Thank you to our friends at Cargill for ensuring that our Partners, like Vine Ridge Food Pantry who serve around 300 families per week, have the capacity and tools they need to help our neighbors experiencing hunger. Vine Ridge Food Pantry utilized the Cargill Retail Agency Capacity Grant for improvements such as industrial shelving and conveyors to store and distribute food more efficiently. Patty and Doylene, who run Vine Ridge Food Pantry, say that many of their elderly neighbors depend on Vine Ridge’s food boxes so they can afford their prescribed essential medication. Now, because of Cargill's support, Vine Ridge will be able to serve even more neighbors who are facing hunger. We couldn’t work toward our mission without the support of great Partners like Cargill!

It’s Hispanic Heritage Month! At Second Harvest, we’re celebrating the rich culture and contributions of the Hispanic community. We must also acknowledge and continue our work to address the rising rate of food insecurity within the Latino community across our 46-county service area. When everyone has a seat at the table and their voices are heard, our work is better for it. Developing partnerships and gathering insight from neighbors within the Latino community resulted in the creation of our culturally responsive food boxes and increasing access to services that aim to address the whole person.

Did you know that advocating for equal access to food is one small action you can take to fight hunger? When we educate ourselves, listen to our neighbors’ lived experiences, and spread awareness, we can work towards ending hunger in our communities. We believe that having access to food is a human right, and we encourage you to share this message with your friends, family, and community- on or offline. When we all commit to one action, that’s when we see progress. That’s the power of togetherness. That’s the Power of ONE!
