Last week we hosted our Annual Functional Safety and Cybersecurity Summit at our HQ in Cambridge! During the two-day event, we brought the automotive ecosystem together to share ideas and collaborate on the solutions needed to build next-generation vehicles. This included productive and joint conversations between our engineering teams and 40 of our safety critical partners, and a panel discussion on the latest functional safety requirements with Peterson Quadros, Wayve's Eric Barbier, SecuRESafe (SRES)' Gokul Krithivasan and PAVE United Kingdom's Siddartha Khastgir. As Suraj Gajendra noted, "no single organization or company can solve the challenges we face as an industry alone; we have to collaborate and work together". We're proud to bring partners across the automotive stack together to solve complex challenges on the Arm compute platform.

For those passionate about functional safety and high voltage (HV) electrical safety, this is a must-read! SecuRESafe (SRES) is also releasing a new training on HV electrical safety, read further to learn more. This blog delves into the critical concept of designing safety in layers, akin to the Swiss cheese model, where multiple layers of protection help mitigate risks. Key takeaways: 1. Layered Safety Approach: Implementing multiple, independent safety measures to prevent failures from propagating and causing harm. 2. Standards and Compliance: Adhering to rigorous standards and regulations like UN ECE R100, FMVSS 305 and ISO 26262 to ensure robust safety protocols. 3. Practical Applications: Real-world examples of how layered safety is applied in HV systems to protect both users and technicians are provided in the HV electrical safety training.
