About us

Shakti Regeneration Institute (SRI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing intersectional equality, education, and cultural and ecological regeneration globally. We use storytelling, art, film, and social movement marketing to inspire change and uplift marginalized communities. By integrating Indigenous wisdom with science, technology, and participatory storytelling, we work toward a more just and regenerative future. Our work focuses on six UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): climate action, peace, justice, strong institutions, quality education, reduced inequalities, life on land, and partnerships for the goals. Through creative partnerships, Indigenous knowledge, and global advocacy, we catalyze positive change at scale. **Vision** We aim to empower Indigenous- and women-led regeneration by awakening public consciousness, shifting cultural attitudes, and transforming behaviors through impactful art, education, and advocacy. We mobilize social movements to create a more just, equitable, and regenerative world. **Overview** SRI provides regenerative education, vocational training, neurodiversity support, micro-financing, homeopathic medicine, anti-trafficking programs, and community support for low-income women, children, and Indigenous communities. Founded in 1994 in West Bengal, India, with offices in New York and Virginia, our initiatives, including Shakti Empowerment Education Foundation (SEEschool) and Ramakrishna Vidyapith, have supported over 8,000 students. Our collaborations have helped raise over $26 million for nonprofit partners and generated over 2 billion media impressions through our films, public service announcements, and campaigns. Our work has been recognized by the United Nations, Rotary International, CNN , Harvard University’s Kennedy School Carr Center, Princeton University (The Art of Social Justice), the Disruptive Innovation Award, TEDx and XPRIZE.
