As a people-first company, we are proud to uplift and empower the diverse communities we serve through our Romay Davis Belonging, Inclusion and Diversity Grant. Our grant’s namesake, Ms. Romay as she was lovingly called, died earlier this year at the rich age of 104. Many knew and loved Ms. Romay, and we're proud to carry on her legacy through this annual grant program. This year, we are supporting a record number of 50 nonprofits, awarding a total of $487,500 in funding, in remembrance and celebration of her impactful life. The organizations selected exemplify the same dedication to inclusivity and empowerment that Ms. Romay lived out each and every day. Meet James “Buck” A.! Buck recently celebrated 50 years of service, and is currently the beloved Store Manager at our Winn-Dixie store #619 in Sun City Center, FL.    Buck’s infectious personality and unwavering dedication have made a lasting impact on his team and the community. He has held various roles, including District Manager and Produce Buyer, while steadily advancing within the stores. In his free time, he loves playing golf and spending time with his family. Buck’s team treated him to his favorite meal, a prime rib lunch, and even grooved to 70s-themed music, taking everyone back to 1974 — the year Buck first started his Winn-Dixie journey. He was presented with a plaque commemorating his 50 years of service and gifts for him and his family to enjoy. “There's only one Buck, and we sure are glad to have them in our district.” – Karl D. After the devastation left behind by Hurricane Milton, our teams quickly jumped into action to support our associates, customers and community members who were personally impacted by the storm. Over the last week, SEGers have been hard at work providing recovery essentials to our neighbors in need, including free ice, bottled water, cleaning supplies and gift cards to help restock their refrigerators and pantries. We're so much more than your neighborhood grocer, we're proud to be a community partner, playing an active role in ensuring access to essential resources when it matters most. Our hearts are heavy as we brace for yet another major hurricane here in the Southeast this week. Regardless of what Hurricane Milton may bring, we stand united with our associates, customers and communities, and remain committed to ensuring everyone is prepared and safe. We were there for our neighbors in need after Hurricane Helene, and after Hurricane Milton passes, we will be on the ground again, ready to help with recovery efforts.    Last week, our dedicated group of volunteers sprang into action, distributing post-storm essentials like water, ice, non-perishable food, cleaning supplies and more in Madeira Beach, Florida, one of the communities heavily impacted by Hurricane Helene.
