Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) is the 12th largest school district in Florida and is the 60th largest school district in the nation. SCPS in perennially ranked an "A"-rated district by the Florida Department of Education (FDOE). The district operates 65 schools and has more than 67,000 K-12th grade students. SCPS boasts a Grad Rate of 95.5% ('20-'21), which is 5.4% above the state average of 90.1%. That’s #1 out of all Central Florida districts, #1 out of the 14 largest districts, and #3 out of all Florida districts. In addition, SCPS student's SAT scores have exceeded the state average for the 44th consecutive year.   • Update #2: Hurricane Milton 10/8/24 at 1:45pm Dear SCPS Families and Students, Due to the anticipated impact of Hurricane Milton in our area, all SCPS schools will be closed the rest of this week which includes Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, October 9th-11th. As a reminder, Monday, 10/14 is a scheduled student holiday. Over the weekend, we will assess our campuses for potential damage and communicate additional information. School is expected to resume for students on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. For the duration of the storm event, we will provide an update for our families, students, and staff as needed with current information through our SchoolMessenger system via phone, text, and email, as well as on our social media platforms, and our website www.scps.k12.fl.us. We will share information about shelters as soon as we receive the finalized list and operating times from Seminole County Emergency Management. Stay Safe!

  • We are Hiring! MANAGER I, Community Involvement QUALIFICATIONS Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred.  Five (5) years’ experience in community relations, community volunteerism, or administration of volunteers. Experience with special event planning and coordination preferred. Experience or training in business management with emphasis on budget preferred. SUPERVISION  Reports to: Communications Officer  Supervises: Executive Secretary of Community Involvement and/or Community Involvement Support Staff POSITION GOAL To develop long-range plans for effective community relations to benefit schools; to collaboratively coordinate community involvement efforts by managing the volunteer process, programs, and the recruitment of mentors and other business partners to support both schools and the District. *Serve as the Seminole County Public Schools liaison with various parent, business, and community groups interested in providing services or getting involved with assisting the District. *Provide in-service training to school administrators, school volunteer coordinators, Partners in Education coordinators, and Raptor coordinators. *Work with administrators on both the school and District level to develop programs designed to match community skills with student and school needs. *Develop creative programs and provide Community Involvement recruitment, training and monitoring, including senior citizens, parents, non-parents, students, and business partners. *Establish and maintain all data and records pertaining to volunteer-partnership programs and prepare and submit all reports in a timely manner. *Assist with the development and maintenance of the District’s Volunteer/Visitor/Student/Staff Management System. *Provide direct management of the District’s volunteer program, which includes obtaining background checks on prospective volunteers as required by state law and District policy, including additional documents required for volunteer coaches, mentors, and overnight chaperones. *Coordinate recognition and appreciation activities for volunteers, businesses, and civic organizations. *Manage, plan, implement, and execute District special events including, but not limited to, Teacher of the Year, Dividends Volunteer Appreciation, Annual Holiday Programs, Support Professionals Appreciation, and more. *Work with the Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools, events sponsors, and District leadership to identify expectations and needs to ensure overall event success.
