Dry needling can be used to decrease tightness and increase blood flow in skeletal muscle. While it can be an intimidating treatment, many of our patients swear by the results of dry needling. This past weekend, we had the honor of hosting a dry needling course for physical therapists in the surrounding area. We want to thank Rachel and Matt Grubb for leading the course. This course teaches therapists invasive dry needling techniques to help with various musculoskeletal conditions. We are proud to educate our therapists on these techniques to better our practice and help our patients on their road to recovery. Meet John Michael, our new Physical Therapist who will be sharing time between our Biltmore and Arden clinics. John Michael earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Virginia in 2017, laying a strong foundation for his career. Continuing his academic pursuit, he obtained his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2020, further solidifying his dedication to enhancing patient care and well-being. John Michael specializes in the treatment of diverse orthopedic conditions. He is a Certified Vestibular Therapist, empowering him to navigate the complexities of vestibular disorders. In addition, his credentials as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, and a Certified Dry Needling practitioner exemplify his dedication to performance optimization. Driven by his desire to facilitate athletic recovery and excellence, John Michael finds fulfillment in assisting athletes of all ages in their journey back to peak performance. Meet Lauren Gustetic, our new Physical Therapist Assistant at our Biltmore location! Originally from Maryland, she has spent the last 20 years in sunny Florida before settling in North Carolina 3 years ago. She earned her degree from Polk State College in Winter Haven, FL. Outside of work, she cherishes moments with her husband, family, and her lively bunch of pets—2 dogs, a tortoise, a turtle, and a leopard gecko! Her journey to becoming a PTA started with her own experiences—playing travel and college softball, enduring 5 shoulder surgeries, and countless hours of physical therapy. This path ignited her passion for rehabilitation, especially in orthopedic care and with patients like those battling Parkinson's Disease.
