MEET THE TEAM! Meet one of our newest Senior Engineers, Michael Moura! Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Michael says technology has been part of his life since childhood, when he created animations on Power Point, programmed the video cassette in his house to record cartoons, and installed Atari emulators in the computers of many friends using floppy disks, infecting those computers with a bunch of viruses unintentionally in the process, and then figuring out how reinstall fresh copies of Windows on those computers to save them from that mess. Growing up he started to make games using the RPG Maker framework for his friends to play, studied Mechatronics, where his favorite class was programming PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), and played lots of the MMORPG Tibia. Aside from technology, Michael loves to create art. He used to make toys, games, and comic books growing up, all inclined towards comedy. While living in the USA, Michael studied Computer Science at LaGuardia Community College and Queens College, ultimately earning a Master’s Degree. Michael’s favorite part of Programming is working on backend and performance-improvement projects. He says working on those type of projects is like solving a fun puzzle, and are the type of projects where he feels the most immersion when programming. Recently, Michael started to scrape Ruby on Rails job opportunities from a variety of sites to share those jobs on LinkedIn. He also started a series of videos summarizing tech articles into 1-minute long format, inviting people to read the full articles. The project of scrapping jobs is what initially drew Michael to SerpApi, and his interest only grew based on the positive interactions the SerpApi LinkedIn page had in his posts and after getting to know more about the team and SerpApi’s mission. Michael’s favorite part about working at SerpApi is that he’s empowering people to create amazing products, especially in the field of Artificial Intelligence, through providing a fast, and easy solution to scrapping data from the internet. He’s excited to see all the cool stuff people can make using SerpApi. Michael has many interests outside of programming, like hiking, cruising the city on his skateboard, playing Dungeons & Dragons, video games, watching tv shows and animes, and creating video content. #serpapi #meettheteam #seniorengineer #engineering #NYC

MEET THE TEAM! Meet our newest Senior Engineer, Muhammad Owais! Muhammad Owais is from Karachi, Pakistan, and has a passion for technology that began with the humble .jar game files on old Java mobiles. Fascinated by how these files worked, Muhammad also enjoyed experimenting with scripts to manipulate Blogspot blogs and transforming YouTube cache files into videos — true tech curiosity in action! The journey into programming officially started with a PDF book in Urdu on JavaScript and PHP. Muhammad began creating fun and quirky scripts like a "love calculator" using PHP, which led to a web designer course, followed by a diploma in "Mobile and Web App Development." Embracing the MERN stack, Muhammad has been a full-stack JavaScript developer ever since and is now excited to dive into Ruby with the open and vibrant culture at SerpApi. Muhammad also loves making open-source contributions and created DummyJSON to give back to the community. Outside of work, he is an avid cricket player, having captained a team and organized neighborhood tournaments during their childhood. Although there's less time for cricket now, Muhammad remains a big fan of sci-fi movies and the Marvel universe. A few years back, he set up a small web server at home using old hardware to learn the ins and outs of hosting. Muhammad also loves visiting the northern areas of Pakistan for their breathtaking landscapes and peaceful retreats whenever he gets some time or is on vacation. #serpapi #meettheteam #seniorengineer #engineering

MEET THE TEAM! Meet our newest Customer Success Engineer, Nathan Skiles! Nathan, originally from the east coast of the US in Delaware, now calls Portland, Oregon, home. Their passion for technology began early, sparked by modding video games on the family computer as a child. This interest led them to a vocational high school where he studied Computer Engineering Technology, focusing on hardware and networking. Pursuing this further, he studied Computer Information Systems in college. However, instead of following a traditional IT path, he took a different route and worked as a server and bartender at a fine-dining Peruvian restaurant in Portland. The restaurant's closure during the pandemic allowed them to revisit their interest in technology, reigniting their passion for tech. With the extra time on their hands, Nathan attended a coding boot camp, delving into C# and Python programming. This experience led to a Support Engineer role at a CRM company, where they combined their technical skills with their love for customer service. What excites Nathan most about programming is the challenge of breaking down complex problems into manageable tasks. This problem-solving aspect drew him back into tech after initially writing it off as a career path. Joining SerpApi was an easy choice for Nathan due to the company's strong commitment to transparency, both internally and with its customers. He found the SerpApi team refreshingly open and dedicated to this principle, making it clear that transparency is a core value for everyone in the company. Outside work, Nathan is a massive sports fan, especially baseball and American football. They love trips to Seattle to watch the Mariners play and enjoy exploring the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest through camping and hiking. #serpapi #meettheteam #customersuccess #portland

MEET THE TEAM! Meet our newest Senior Engineer, Dmytro Horoshko! Dmytro Horoshko is from Ukraine and currently lives in its North-West countryside. In the early days, when the internet had just begun being a common thing and media platforms started to pop up, the cult of digital piracy took its roots as well. That was the exact time when Dmytro started fiddling with those old web catalogs trying to offload favorite songs, so they could be cranked up to 11 in the background while playing Unreal Tournament 1999 (pirated as well, of course). No code back then, just third-party tools and utilities. Many years later, after getting through university and a whole set of C-like languages, Dmytro introduced himself to Ruby, and that was his first developer's love. Combined with a skillset for getting "hard to get" data, Dmytro started doing freelance jobs where scraping was involved. Eventually, it turned into a full-time occupation and a bunch of interesting projects with dozens of clients worldwide. Things that Dmytro is always concerned about while messing even with the most obscure problems - solution elegance and the aesthetics of code (courtesy of Joe Armstrong). "So really, just make it beautiful!" © After the accidental discovery of SerpApi through some random Google search, Dmytro was over the moon that he finally found a company that incorporates both things he likes very much – Ruby and scraping. And that's how the story began. Outside of work and the role of husband and father to 4 cats and 1 chonky corgi, Dmytro likes wandering through unknown places in the wilderness doing nature and landscape photography, mountain biking, nerding out about music releases of old days, nerding out about vintage photo gear and playing retro video games. #meettheteam #Ukraine #engineering #serpapi
