  • We are so excited to announce this $1 million forestry fund that is now available to all SFLR Network Site Landowners. We want to help SFLR Network families enter essential timber and non-timber markets. This fund opens doors to new economic opportunities while strengthening local organizations to provide landowners with the on-the-ground support needed to succeed at scale, sustainably. Apply today! For more information on the application visit SFLR Network’s Forestry Fund page here: https://lnkd.in/eW5mDtMq Eligible landowners must be enrolled in—or willing to join—an SFLR Network Site program. Applications for individual or joint projects will be accepted on a rolling basis through April 15, 2025. Projects must exceed $10,000, with funding capped at $15,000 per landowner annually. Priority will be given to initiatives that address immediate barriers and promote long-term financial independence.   • Tax Tips for Forest Landowners 🌲 Here are some key takeaways from the USDA’s latest guide: Timber Sale Income – If you sell timber, you may qualify for capital gains tax treatment instead of ordinary income tax, reducing your tax burden. Reforestation Costs – You can deduct up to $10,000 per year in reforestation expenses, with additional costs amortized over 7 years. Property Taxes – Some states offer lower tax rates for forested land under conservation or timber management programs. Casualty Loss Deductions – If you experience damage from storms, fire, or pests, you might be eligible for tax deductions on the loss.
