Our Red Cross team was in Stuart’s Manatee Bay and Manatee Creek neighborhoods over the weekend, providing emergency supplies, comfort, care and hope to those impacted by Hurricane Milton. Local neighborhoods united to provide support and immediate needs to residents in the affected areas. Community leaders, such as Belinda Lowe, are outside, walking the streets, making sure her neighbors are doing well. Lowe even took it upon herself to coordinate a group of people that are helping remove debris from homes. Floridians are in need and you can help. The Red Cross can’t do this alone. Please help by making a financial donation or signing up to become a volunteer by visiting redcross.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767).

Meet Matt and his son Beau. Although their home fortunately didn’t sustain any damage, the father-son duo were spending their day volunteering with Fort Myers Beach Strong to support their neighbors. Fort Myers Beach Strong is a key partner for the American Red Cross Community Adaptation Program. Fort Myers Beach Strong volunteers assisted their neighbors in finding the supplies needed to make it through the next couple of days. Community members picked up food, water, clean-up supplies, and hot meals. Fort Myers Beach Strong is truly a community hub where multiple nonprofits and community members come together to meet the immediate needs of their neighbors. The road to recovery will be long, but Red Cross partnerships with hyper-local organizations strengthens community resiliency to recover from disasters. ❤️

In the wake of Hurricane Milton, our hearts go out to all those who have lost so much. Milton is the third hurricane to hit Florida this year, following closely after Helene. It has left more than 3 million people without power, dropping over a foot of rain and spawning numerous tornadoes. Red Cross disaster teams remain on the ground in Florida, working closely with local officials and partners to understand exactly what people require and where Red Cross assistance is needed most. This is an immensely difficult time for communities across the Southeast, especially for Floridians. If you would like to help people affected by Hurricanes Milton and Helene, here are three things you can do right now. ⬇️ #Milton #Helene

Hurricane Milton made landfall yesterday evening in Siesta Key as a category 3 hurricane and families all over southwest Florida were heavily impacted. The strong winds, heavy rainfall, tornadoes and life-threatening storm surge from Milton destroyed homes and flooded entire neighborhoods. Today, as people are looking outside their homes to witness the destruction left behind, we urge you to keep you, your family and your pets' safety top of mind. Here are some tips to consider after a hurricane while cleaning your home, stepping outside and waiting to get power restored.
