We’re blushing over these cities that celebrated Red Cross Month and Giving Day with us! Every year, cities across the country join us in March to honor our dedicated volunteers and celebrate our lifesaving mission by lighting up their landmarks, attractions and buildings in red. Do you recognize any of these spots? Check out some of the coolest displays of red and let us know if you caught any of them in your city. #RedCrossMonth #HelpCantWait

We prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies.
About us
The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Each day, thousands of people – people just like you – provide compassionate care to those in need. Our network of generous donors, volunteers and employees share a mission of preventing and relieving suffering, here at home and around the world. We roll up our sleeves and donate time, money and blood. We learn or teach life-saving skills so our communities can be better prepared when the need arises. We do this every day because the Red Cross is needed - every day.

Supporting community health has been part of our mission for over 140 years. Our roots trace back to our founder Clara Barton, who previously aided wounded soldiers during the Civil War. During her tenure leading the Red Cross, she continued to care for people by rallying volunteers, doctors and nurses to help those affected by major disasters like the 1889 Johnstown Flood in Pennsylvania. Today, Red Cross volunteers continue her legacy using their kind hearts and unique talents to serve communities in need. This Red Cross Month, help us celebrate and acknowledge the incredible humanitarians who make our mission possible by sharing words of encouragement and tagging your favorite Red Crosser in the comments. #RedCrossMonth

“A better world starts with building stronger communities.” For decades, Ford Philanthropy, the global philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company, has partnered with the Red Cross to support communities in crisis. It all started during World War I with the design and donation of Model T ambulances and continued in World War II with donations to the Red Cross Motor Corps — a group of passionate women who volunteered to transport wounded soldiers and deliver essential supplies and personnel to their posts. Today on Red Cross Giving Day, Ford Philanthropy is paying it forward once again by matching your donations up to $250,000 until midnight ET. Double your impact and help provide shelter, food, and emergency assistance to people in need when disasters strike.
