Last Saturday SSA and Gonzalez Shah Smith, Inc. came together for our 2nd annual picnic. Our staff and their families enjoyed a sunshine filled day of delicious food and friendly competitions. It was a great day to celebrate our team’s hard work over the past year.

We participated in the Westchase District 26th Annual Corporate Challenge this year. The event raises money for charity, including the Quillian Recreation Center, to help provide scholarships for children to attend Camp Quillian in the summer. Thanks to Westchase District for putting together this event! We had a great time.

We were excited to join Texas Health and Human Services and UT Health San Antonio for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of a new 300-bed replacement hospital for San Antonio State Hospital. The new facility will provide long-term and short-term residential and crisis treatment for behavioral health patients in over 50 counties throughout South Texas. Our team attended the Dallas County BSL 3 laboratory ground breaking. The new 70,000-square-foot laboratory and research facility will focus on surveillance and diagnostic testing for communicable diseases such as HIV, Hepatitis C, and TB, as well as mosquito-borne illnesses (West Nile Virus).
