When Alyssa isn't out keeping her calendar full and getting her 10,000+ steps in with fun fitness classes or lakefront walks, you can find her traveling the world in her free time. Alyssa has visited Australia, France, England, Italy, Germany, Austria, Greece, and Switzerland, and she is planning a trip to Scotland early next year. Her motto? "I think that getting out of your comfort zone can be one of the best things you can do for yourself, in your personal and professional life. Outside of the office and realm of research, Nikki is busy with mom duties that include her 16-year old son, two rambunctious cats, Kevin & Anchorage, and her sweet dog, Ali. She also loves music and considers herself a huge Swiftie, proclaiming that the Seattle Eras Tour she attended with her niece absolutely changed her life! Nikki also has a soft spot for nature activities—she is an avid hiker and whitewater paddler, enjoying everything the mountains and rivers in her area have to offer. Have you ever had someone in your life who inspired you or provided mentorship? If so, you should meet Anjalee, who is one extraordinary woman and mentor! Anjalee is a mentor for breast cancer patients through the Imerman Angels organization. As a survivor, she feels passionate about bringing awareness to cancer patients and their loved ones. Being a mentor for breast cancer has also made Anjalee that much more passionate about learning about oncology and general cancer treatments. When she is not working or mentoring, Anjalee loves spending time with her husband and two sons—especially attending sports games and traveling as a family. Fun fact about Anjalee: she went to the Olympic trials for synchronized swimming in the 90’s—so cool! A motto that she has lived by since her diagnosis is: “Sometimes you have to let go of the picture of what you thought life would be like and learn to find joy in the story you are living”. When he’s not exploring the local foodie scene in New York, Jay is on a quest for thrill-seeking adventures—last year alone included him hanging off the edge of a skyscraper, skydiving, having a meal while hoisted 20 stories in the sky, jet-skiing on the Hudson, and even hot air balloon rides. Talk about exciting! When his feet are firmly planted on the ground, Jay enjoys visiting breweries, playing chess and board games, watching reality television, and leveling-up his cooking game. His personal motto: “life is all about learning. It doesn’t have to be in a classroom. At Shapiro+Raj, you will often hear us use the phrase “Teamwork makes the Dream Work.” Meet Taylor Belongia, who is no stranger to bringing the S+R spirit and cheering her work teammates on. This translates from her professional life to her personal life as well because Taylor is a cheerleading coach outside of S+R! She coaches top-notch teams and creates impressive routines for 94 athletes total--pretty amazing! In Taylor’s free time, she enjoys scrolling through social media (especially Tik Tok where she has a large presence), fitness-related endeavors, traveling, lounging with her 15-year-old dog Coco, and going on the hunt for fun new restaurants and hotspots in town. Taylor has three personal mottos that she lives by: “Hard work beats talent when talent isn’t working hard,” “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take,” and “Failing to prep = prepping to fail”. Does art imitate life? We believe it does! Meet Yifan Wang, who is the ultimate art enthusiast. She adores classical music and films so much that she is now a regular at the Metrograph and Film Forum in New York City. In her free time, Yifan also frequents the Met and MoMA so much that they feel like second homes--she could even give you an extensive tour guide through all of their masterpieces! She also makes it a point to explore local galleries, whether at home or abroad, to take in new and enriching art experiences. Regarding how her art hobbies relate to work, Yifan says: “Just as every piece of art has its unique sentiment and passion, every data set in market research tells a human story”.
