We had a great time at the Rumiano Cheese Company Farm to School Summit in the Ecology Center in San Juan Capistrano! With our friends at Alice Waters Institute, the Chef Ann Foundation, Aziz Farms, Dickinson Family Farms, CUSD Nutrition and California Department of Food and Agriculture we went on a great tour of the Ecology Center Farm. Shared Plate Strategies visited Morgan Hill's unique and inspiring FarmTECH program led by Director of Student Nutrition Michael Jochner. MHUSD believes a school district can grow its own produce using environmentally friendly and sustainable practices, educate our students about the values of farming, and work within the community to celebrate local produce.  The District has 2 Freight Farms producing over 700lbs of spring mix monthly, a future 12+ acre farm, a greenhouse, and more producing local, organic, healthy food for and with their students. #mhusdnutrition #sharedplatestrategies #schoolnutrition #cdfa #michaeljochner
