    ConGRADulations to the AAPL Student Member graduating class of 2024! New this year — and in an effort to help elevate the land profession — the Landman Scholarship Trust distributed tasseled cords for graduating students from AAPL’s accredited programs who successfully passed the Registered Landman exam. Tasseled cords date back to the 14th century as status symbols. Today, these graduating cords offer a way for students to display their achievements or honors within particular associations, degrees or clubs. The LST designed the tasseled cords based on AAPL’s distinctive brand colors and hopes to bring visual awareness to AAPL, the land profession and industry across all the accredited campuses. A total of 49 student members took advantage of the certification fast track offered to energy management degreed students from AAPL’s accredited programs. These students now have an opportunity to upgrade their AAPL memberships from Student to Active and they will be officially designated as Registered Landmen. Congratulations, graduates!     I am pleased, excited and blessed to announce that my son Luke Shaw, RPL who began his career with Shaw Interests, Inc. as a summer intern while attending The University of Texas at San Antonio and after graduation in the field in the FW Basin and the Permian before stepping away to work with Chalfant Properties for several years, Land Manager with Stanolind Oil and Gas for 5 years and then VP of Land with Mammoth Exploration for 5 years, has returned to Shaw Interests, Inc. as Vice President to assist with our ever growing business development needs, researching title, management and client relations.
