October brings to mind the beauty of the leaves changing colors and a time to enjoy the colder weather. But October also holds another meaning for millions of people: it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Saturday, October 5th was the 2024 Susan G. Komen Indianapolis MORE THAN PINK Walk, and a few of our Shepherd Financial, LLC team members spent their Friday afternoon helping set up for the event. From decorating tents and stuffing goodie bags to unloading trucks full of bottled waters, our team enjoyed being a small part of a big event that makes an even bigger difference. #NationalBreastCancerAwarenessMonth #volunteer #shepfinteam

In honor of October being Cybersecurity Awareness Month, here are ten tips to help you navigate and prevent a data breach. 1. Keep yourself updated and informed about the breach by setting up news alerts or signing up for updates from the affected company. This will ensure you are aware of any developments or actions being taken to address the breach. 2. Understand what data has been compromised. Knowing exactly what data has been compromised will help you take appropriate action. 3. Enable multi-factor authentication for all your online accounts. This adds an extra layer of security by requiring a second form of verification beyond your password, such as a unique code sent to your phone. 4. Monitor your credit reports and financial accounts for any suspicious activity. 5. Watch out for phishing attacks, limit the information you share, and avoid posting your full address, phone number, or other sensitive details that could be used for identity theft. 6. Report identity theft immediately to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) through its website IdentityTheft.gov. This resource will guide you through the necessary steps to recover from identity theft and protect yourself from further harm. 7. Use strong, unique passwords with a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols. Additionally, use a different password for each online account to minimize the risk of multiple accounts being compromised if one password is breached. Make sure to change the passwords of all your online accounts, especially those that may have been compromised. 8. Update your software to ensure you have the latest security patches and protections against known vulnerabilities. 9. Use secure, password-protected Wi-Fi networks, and avoid using public Wi-Fi networks that are unsecured. 10. Regularly back up your data to an external hard drive or cloud storage service. #cybersecurityawareness #safeandsecure
