We had a blast talking with and learning from the participants of Girls Inc. of Metro Denver's Bold Business cohort.
Field Trip Friday! This week was full of sunshine, perseverance, and rocky mountain fun! 😉 Our participants had an incredible experienced learning how Anna Costello figured out how to Ship Sunshine 🌞 directly to people's door. They learned the ins and outs of starting a business from scratch and how to be BOLD to pursue something even if you don't always know how it will turn out. Next, they visited Bodies By Perseverance 💪 built by Jennifer M Samuel, the first Filipino former Denver Broncos Football Club Cheerleader and former NFL player, Courtney Samuel. Jennifer, also an entrepreneurship professor at the University of Colorado Denver, shared insights on how identifying STRONG personal values can help guide our participants business's value proposition. The week wrapped up with a hands-on workshop ✍ from the Rocky Mountain MicroFinance Institute. They led our participants through creating a SMART marketing action plan, identifying their customer persona, and more, allowing them to implement lessons learned from their experiences this week. One participant summed it up perfectly: "This has been amazing. If it's this great now, I can't imagine how much better it will get for future participants." What a great first week of our Inaugural Bold Business Boot camp! #BoldBusiness
We’re so thankful Connor is part of our team, he brightens up the whole office and warehouse and the pups clearly love him 🤩 his dedication and attention to detail is exceptional and he’s a fantastic DJ - some of his favorites are Taylor Swift’s Wildest Dreams and Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. We highly recommend connecting with the team at REVEL to learn more about their employment program. #austismawareness #neurodivergent
We love these wallet cards and are so thankful for our partners at COLORADO BLACK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE for letting us help them with this project!
They are here! Our first round of Te Amo bears came in and our hearts are full. We are also able to buy 150 meals and supplies for people in need. There is still time to donate - there were approximately 100 newcomers per day but there was a stretch last week where 1000 people arrived in 4 days. Giving teddy bears is a very small gesture to hopefully provide a little comfort to children who have been through so much. Here's our original post for additional context: https://lnkd.in/gwsfN49e
100% of donations will go to helping newcomers and the unhoused.
I’ve been trying to figure out how to help the Venezuelan migrants and others who find themselves living on our streets in a cold Denver winter. I've seen estimates that there have already been more than 30,000 people who migrated to Denver and another 100 or so every day. Not just adults - but also families with children. Children. That's why I'm writing about teddy bears. In this holiday season, there are kids who are cold, hungry, and scared. Let's show them some love and comfort. For context, a donation of just $10 will provide a teddy bear, a hot meal, and a piece of clothing to shield a child from the cold. If we have any donations left over, we will use the funds for whatever else is needed the most to support the unhoused. I know this is a complex issue. Solving houselessness for migrants or anyone else will be a marathon, not a sprint. Among these newcomers, there are skilled individuals who have clearly demonstrated determination and resourcefulness. For many, the legality of work visas is a major challenge so until we can find a long-term sustainable solution, they will need help. As Taylor Swift says “bandaids don’t fix bullet holes” but I believe that when we work together, our collective actions can make a huge difference. Please consider a donation to help. For the record, I want more than a teddy bear, a hot meal, and warm clothes for everyone who is unhoused or struggling. But let's start somewhere. And why not with a bear hug? I believe this small gesture will share comfort and hope, in addition to providing some basic needs. Thank you for doing what you can, I appreciate you all. Happy holidays!
Hey y'all...Anna here! We were fortunate to be able to share our journey with the PBS12 team and it comes with some tough breaking news: Ship Sunshine will be discontinuing our line of gifts for individuals, effective immediately. I've been leading with my heart because gift-giving is my love language and individual gifts were the start of my business. But our growth has been in our work with our business partners and it's time for me to listen to my customers. Ship Sunshine will continue helping businesses shine with their employees and clients through branded merchandise and paper print services. We will also continue to help curate bulk corporate gift experiences and gift boxes; we are just stepping away from one-off gifts - at least for the time being. Through our new focus, Ship Sunshine will be even better able to brighten other's days with surprise and delight. Special thanks to those who were our first and continuing loyal customers. And of course, please feel free to reach out with any questions or feedback. https://lnkd.in/gQRtXRjF
