Last week, Shooting Touch Board Member Grant Williams of the Charlotte Hornets & National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) joined our co-founders Lindsey Kittredge & Justin Kittredge for an unforgettable trip to Rwanda! A longtime supporter of Shooting Touch, Grant was finally able to engage with our sport-for-development programs in rural Rwanda, visiting four courts in #KayonzaDistrict and participating in one of our many community basketball events promoting health and gender equality for thousands of youth and women. Thank you, Grant, for bringing incredible passion, energy, and joy to our courts. Shooting Touch commends you for your dedication to uplifting communities in Rwanda and around the world using the power of sport - and we look forward to creating more lasting change for years to come! #GrantWilliams #ShootingTouch #Rwanda #NBA #MoreThanAGame

Using the power of basketball to bridge opportunity gaps for youth and women.
About us
Shooting Touch is a global sport-for-development organization whose mission is to use the mobilizing power of basketball to bridge health and opportunity gaps for youth and women facing racial, gender, and economic inequalities. Founded in 2007, Shooting Touch Inc. invests in youth and women of color by providing increased access to physical activity and education that encourages healthy habits and personal development. Since its inception, Shooting Touch has grown from a grassroots basketball program in Boston into an international non-governmental organization that has served over 200,000+ youth and women in six different countries. Shooting Touch was founded with the goal of taking the convening power of sport to help improve the lives of youth and women facing race, gender and health opportunity gaps by using basketball to achieve three critical objectives - 1) Provide equal access to physical activity 2) Increase access to health education and health services 3) Promote social change We currently operate two signature sport-for-development programs simultaneously - one in Boston, MA and the other in Eastern Rwanda. The combined organization directly serves over 3,000 youth and women and indirectly impacts an additional 40,000 youth and women every day. We serve - Boston: Over 250 girls, ages 9-17 throughout Greater Boston. Rwanda: Over 3,000 youth, ages 7-21, and 700 women 21+, from 6 rural communities in the Republic of Rwanda’s Eastern and Northern Provinces.

From basketball to table tennis, the International Sports Programming Initiative (ISPI) Exchange Program to Tonga provided an inspiring sport-for-development experience for Shooting Touch's Director of Boston Operations, Kamilah Washington. This #SportDiplomacy exchange was organized in partnership by Women Win and U.S. Department of State, with on-ground guidance from the Tonga Table Tennis Federation (TTTF), and included representatives from 11 sport-for-development members organizations from around the world, including #ShootingTouch. Engaging with various Tongan sport organizations addressing issues such as diversity, equity and inclusion, gender-based violence, and women and girls’ participation in sport, Kamilah saw firsthand the powerful intersection of sport and community in an entirely new context. “The cultural immersion was breathtaking - from enjoying Tongan food and exploring a fresh water cave to experiencing an earthquake and tsunami warning, the warmth and generosity of the TTTF family shone through. They truly exemplified 'tauhi va,' the Tongan value of looking after one another," Kamilah shared. Kamilah is excited to bring her learning back to our programs in Boston, and the Shooting Touch team extend a huge thank you to TTTF, Women Win, and ISPI for this transformative experience! 🇹🇴🤝💙 #ShootingTouch #ISPI #TongaExchange #SportsForChange #CulturalExchange #WomenInSports #CommunityFirst #MaloAupito
