"A hot tumor has a lot of immune cells in it, and a cold tumor does not, in general," said Dr Drew Pardoll, of the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center. "Hot tumors tend to have a greater number of lymphocytes, in particular T cells, certainly CD8 but probably also CD4, cells that are specific for various antigens in the tumor [and] that tends to correlate with tumor mutational burden and PD-L1 expression."

Kim Elyanow, vice president of finance and chief financial officer of the National Capital Region (NCR) for the Johns Hopkins Health System, Suburban Hospital and Sibley Memorial Hospital, was named in Becker Hospital Review's 156 Women Hospital CFOs to Know 2024. In this role, which she has held since August 2022, Kim oversees financial analysis and decision-making, capital planning, budget and reimbursement, accounting, revenue and expense management and financial growth strategies. She is also responsible for planning and supporting the expansion of clinical services at Sibley Memorial Hospital and Suburban Hospital, as well as the ambulatory growth strategy for the National Capital Region.
