Seven months ago I started to cooperate with Similarweb. Recently, I was asked to write a couple of sentences about my experience and I’m more than happy to share this experience with you. So how did my journey at Similarweb start? Well, I have to admit that it was quite a cold start 🥶, both literally and figuratively. It was a cold morning of March 2024 and I was standing at the Dock Five office building waiting for guys from Similarweb to pick me up. I was then led, together with my colleague Vadim, to a temporary office with no people. We were first occupants of the newly established R&D office in Prague and our final offices were not ready yet. I spent the first couple of weeks waiting for my colleagues to join me. Of course I had some introductory meetings and I was getting acquainted with the tech stack used in Similarweb but I kind of felt like an astronaut who is hanging around the spaceport and waiting for a rocket to be ready for a launch. But the rocket eventually took off 🚀 and it’s been a thrilling journey since then. Now I'm part of the team consisting of eight skilled people, six in Prague and two in Tel Aviv. We are fully responsible for certain parts of our main platform, including data storages, ETLs, backend and frontend. And we’ve already delivered several features. 📈 In Similarweb, you have an opportunity to be what you want to be (if you are willing to strive for it, of course). I was a backend engineer with very limited experience in React, but I expressed interest in React frontend development and now I can participate in frontend development. Another good example is that I expressed my interest in participating in the hiring process and, after completing a training course, I take part in hiring interviews. In both cases my colleagues were glad that they could give me the opportunity. 🙏 That’s my story. What about yours?
