I'm not easily impressed but I've been properly inspired by a bunch of young and ambitious entrepreneurs in Oslo lately.
When Lars Traaholt Vågnes (Founder and CEO of Simli) and Emil Anker Wiik (Founding CEO of Lunda.ai) told me about their idea of organizing a large-scale summit for AI founders, researchers and engineers back in June, I was skeptical. They had one big idea, zero funding, zero partners, and a very aggressive timeline, given they wanted to make it happen in October.
And they proved me wrong.
AI Mad Lab Summit took place last week with 400 seats sold out and a solid line-up of sponsors and partners. The event was an utter success with great speakers and even greater vibes.
How did they do it? By being "shamelessly ambitious", using the exact words from Lars himself.
The startup ecosystem in Norway has long been lagging behind its Nordic neighbors, let alone the US or China. "Janteloven" isn't particularly aligned with entrepreneurial spirits. We need more founders who can think big, think global, and be shamelessly ambitious.
Be like Lars, Emil and the AI Mad Lab team.
P.S. Google is a proud partner of AI Mad Lab and Startuplab. We invite ambitious founders to build on and scale with Google Cloud, just like what Simli and Lunda are doing. Start today: startup.google.com
