Hamas confirms the death of leader Yahya Sinwar, SITE Intelligence Group reports. The statement did not announce a successor, but asserted Hamas' refusal to release hostages until its own demands are met: "We say to those who mourn the prisoners of the occupation held by the resistance that these prisoners will not return except by stopping the aggression on Gaza and withdrawing from it and releasing our heroic detainees from the jails of the occupation." A statement from Hamas' military wing, the Izz al-Deen al-Qassam Brigades, exclaimed similarly: "This criminal enemy is delusional if it thinks that by assassinating the great leaders of the resistance, such as Sinwar, Haniyeh, Nasrallah, al-Arouri, and others, it can extinguish the flame of the resistance or compel it to retreat. Rather, it will continue and escalate until the legitimate goals of our people are achieved." https://lnkd.in/eEddnrAz

SITE Executive Director Rita Katz' new article: "The October 7 attacks lit a match to a long-growing tinderbox. ISIS’ enduring ability to carry out attention-grabbing terrorist attacks abroad—in combination with an increasingly Westerner-tailored propaganda machine from ISKP—made it well-prepared to capitalize on the Israel-Hamas War." https://lnkd.in/eXsFrAGH

Yahya Saree, the spokesman for the Houthi-controlled Yemeni Armed Forces, announced that its “drone force” struck a “vital target” in Tel Aviv, SITE Intelligence Group reports. "The operation achieved its objectives successfully as the drones reached their targets without the enemy being able to repel them or down them," he stated. https://lnkd.in/gmSkSW8f

This is the second Washington Post piece for which my report served as a lead source, with another from May discussing how ISIS supporters are using AI. Russian officials claim the four ISIS-supporting inmates who took hostages in the country's IK-19 prison have been "neutralized" by snipers. Thus far, there has been no official statement from ISIS nor any overwhelming response from ISIS communities online. Meanwhile, nothing about the attack shows signs of outside help or significant planning. As SITE Intelligence Group reported, one ISIS-aligned Russian unit shared footage recorded by the hostage-takers, in which one of them states their attack was mean "to avenge not only the brothers who attacked Crocus City but all Muslim brothers and also for the captive scholars, sisters, and children." https://lnkd.in/eUJJPg2m

Politico article describes how campus protest groups are engaging with terrorist venues dedicated to Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis, and other FTOs. As I am quoted in the article: “These instances of course don’t reflect the entirety of pro-Palestinian protestors, but they do expose entry points for terrorist messaging — not to mention terrorist venues — into these communities. Everyone should recognize this as a problem, regardless of where they stand.” I also describe one such venue, and how it “serves as a comprehensive clearinghouse for official content from these [terrorist] groups.” Considering these overlaps, universities should be prepared, because there is no reason to think these groups won’t pick up right where they left off once fall semesters resume.
