As many of you know, we recently collaborated with Siemens Energy on a generator maintenance robot. What you might not know, is that this robot saves power plants approximately $1.73 Million every time it's deployed. Learn how (and see what the robot looks like) in this #46second clip from SKA President and CEO Spencer Krause's interview with Siemens Energy Manager Zachary Franczyk. https://lnkd.in/eDYQFwWw

Our President & CEO Spencer Krause just gave a very compelling talk for the Carnegie Mellon University Masters in Robotic Systems Development (MRSD) students featuring SKA Robotics and some of the programs we've orchestrated throughout the years. We are excited to see how high this next generation of #techleaders will fly.
Last Friday I had the opportunity to speak to the Carnegie Mellon University Masters in Robotic Systems Development (MRSD) students about my journey as an #entrepreneur - starting companies like SKA Robotics and Tension Dynamics. We kept it conversational and the students asked all kinds of #greatquestions before, during, and after my talk. As many of you know, I myself am an MRSD alumnus. I’m always excited to see the MRSD program continue to evolve #thanks to the dedication and hard work of people like Hagen Schempf, Ph.D., John Dolan and Dimitrios Apostolopoulos. Engaging with and getting a positive reception from the next generation of robotics #executives and #entrepreneurs was one of the most #rewarding things I’ve done this year. I'm excited to see what this latest cohort accomplishes when they get out into the world. Additional #thanks go out to: - John Dolan for inviting me to speak and laughing at a few of my jokes / anecdotes. - Sarah Conte for coordinating the event. - Rodrigo Lopes Catto, Parth Gupta, Abhinandan Vellanki, Megan Lee, Kartik Agrawal, Anirudh Shrihari, and the rest of the MRSDs for attending. - Karl Nykwest of Cunning Folk Films and Jeff Bennett of JKB Photography for documenting the event. Videos are coming soon. Please DM me if I neglected to tag you here and I’ll get you on a future post.

We are proud to have sponsored the first ever Pittsburgh Innovation Happy Hour along with Tronix3D, J.P. Morgan, and Lowenstein Sandler LLP. We are very much looking forward to the next event!
I love a good networking event. I certainly go to a lot of them, but yesterday I had the distinct pleasure of #hosting the first ever Pittsburgh Innovation Happy Hour along with Michael Vindler of Tronix3D, Abe Kwon of Lowenstein Sandler LLP, and Elizabeth Salem Graham of J.P. Morgan. Our sponsors represent some of the best and brightest in #robotics #engineering, #manufacturing, #law, and #banking. That spirit of #excellence was reflected in how this event was planned and came together. From an industry perspective, there were a bunch of heavy hitters in the room. Notable attendees included Christopher Grill of SKA Robotics, Patrick Mondi and Christopher Dunkers of Thoro.ai, Paul Weidinger of Formant, Peter Seiff of ST Engineering, Aethon, Lou Bojarski of Caterpillar Inc., Brian Linville, Michael Maglio, and Nicholas Ng of JP Morgan, Ryan Solo of Tronix3D, Alex Trader of TACFI, LLC, Michelle Merwin, Anirudh Kapuria of BlueTreeVC and Conduit, Abram Pleta, Ph.D. of Formlogic, Kit Mueller, Reeg Allen of Journey Robotics (and SKA’s Advisory Board), Nicholas Anthony of PiMios, Jessi Mazzoni of Innovation Works, Joseph Elzer of Gecko Robotics, Oscar Prom of Gumband / Deeplocal, Stuart Diller of ESTAT Actuation, Brandon Contino of four growers, Chris D’Eramo of D’Eramo Design, Clark Hayes of Velo AI, Ben Pratt of the Allegheny Conference, Arun Venkatadri of Model-Prime, and Liz Caruso. Sorry if I wasn’t able to tag you here. I have once again hit LinkedIn’s mention limit. The Forge in Lawrenceville was the perfect venue for this tight-knit and intimate event, and I even got to give a speech! I am incredibly grateful to those who came out, enjoyed themselves, and forged new connections. The best compliment I got after the event by far, from more than one person, is that they expect to do business with other people they met that night. Thanks for coming out #Pittsburgh. I am excited to do this again and so are the rest of the sponsors.

We recently wrapped up an exciting project with Siemens Energy. We had a great time working with them on a #robot for performing a generator maintenance task- and this isn't your father's diesel generator. The generators this robot works on are #huge, generating anywhere from 500 megawatts and 1.5 gigawatts. A representative at Siemens Energy had this to say about the work: "SKA Robotics developed a custom-built robot for our generator maintenance team within a 4-month timeframe. Throughout the project, they provided weekly updates and addressed our questions promptly. At the end of the project, we received a fully operational robot along with a comprehensive documentation package." Thanks for the feedback, folks. We're looking forward to the next project with you.

Thanks for the acknowledgement, Pittsburgh Robotics Network. We appreciate you as well!
Join me as I speak with AFWERX and SpaceWERX Chief Strategy Officer Phil Hahn about his professional journey first as a United States Air Force Flight Test Engineer, getting an #MBA from Carnegie Mellon University, working in micro private equity, and then taking over the initiatives to build up the investment and innovation arms of the United States Department of the Air Force to what they are today. In a departure from our usual long-form format, our production team condensed down over 3 hours of recording into this shorter, more polished one-hour release.
