According to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, approximately 23 million workplace injuries worldwide are caused by exposure to excessive heat and productivity can drop by 50% when temperatures exceed 93.2 F. OSHA is increasing its focus on heat-related safety with a proposed rule for a Heat injury and Illness Prevention Plan that would provide an enforceable guideline on how companies must monitor their working environment for extreme heat.
