About us
Founded in 1939, AIHA is a nonprofit organization serving professionals dedicated to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, control, and confirmation of environmental stressors in or arising from the workplace that may result in injury, illness, impairment, or affect the well-being of workers and members of the community. We provide comprehensive education programs and other products and services that help its members maintain the highest professional standards. More than half of the nearly 8,500 members are certified industrial hygienists (CIHs), and many hold other professional designations. AIHA serves as a resource for those employed in the industrial, consulting, academic, and government sectors.

The EPA has extended the deadline to submit comments on its proposed rule regulating C.I. Pigment Violet 29 (PV29) to April 29. This rule aims to address risks of lung toxicity by requiring respiratory protection and workplace cleaning measures where PV29 is present as a dry powder. An alternative proposal would mandate air monitoring every three months. Read this AIHA News article to learn more: https://lnkd.in/ex6q5EhG #EPA #ChemicalSafety #WorkplaceSafety

Occupational and environmental health and safety professionals have more access than ever to new technologies that may simplify their work. As an OEHS professional who has implemented safety technologies and an employee who has had new technologies imposed on her, Abby Holovach, MS, CHMM, CSP, REM has seen both sides of the divide. Read her full SynergistNOW blog post and understand how employers and OEHS professionals can build a culture of trust that will allow new safety technologies to be successful with workers. https://lnkd.in/epPG2Ghc You can also join her for her educational session, “Safety Tech—Hinged on a Culture of Trust,” coming up at AIHA Connect 2025 to learn more about this topic! https://lnkd.in/eCkhCJ8r #SynergistNOW #OccupationalHygiene #WorkerHealthandSafety
